Obviously its almost impossible to go through the entire NCAAB season undefeated and if Im not mistaken since UNLV's '91 season only two schools Wichita and Kentucky have made it to the NCAA tourney undefeated since, none won the NC.
There were a lot of things in the '91 NC game vs Duke that can be pointed to that could have changed the outcome of that game, but after reading the SDUT article I linked, I wonder (as I have many times before) would that game have been different had the Rebels got beat maybe in the BWCT Finals? The Rebels would have still been the 1 in the West.
Not to compare SDSU to great teams because they aren't, but they have a very legitimate chance at a 1 seed. SDSU is undefeated and will be favorites to win the rest of their games, which certainly is no given. If they do they probably get a 1 seed but get sent East due to the Zags getting the West 1. I know the team will want to win every game and play to do so, but if you are a fan of SDSU (which Im not) do you hope for one loss to get the West 2 over the East 1? Or does pride get in the way and you want an undefeated season and a 1 seed regardless if it sends the team East the 2nd weekend. Probably a given they play the first weekend in Sacramento.
