If Beard really does have to start from scratch i'm honestly not that worried. I have as much faith that Chris Beard will win big here as i do the sun rising tomorrow.
He's been extremely successful at everyone of his stops previous to UNLV. He demands respect and if you don't want to play hard at all times there's the door.
Something i expect out of his teams, he plays a tough packed in defense. We wont be running "Like we have been the past 5 years." Teams will resemble more the the Kruger years and the State teams we've grown accustom to seeing.
Lets move onto the players, we know they all aren't returning and thats ok. If Beard has to go recruit 10 new players for next years team then so be it. We know he can do it, ALR returned 4 players he had to go find 10 new players in year one he won 30 games beat Purdue, beat SDSU at there place went to the NCAA tournament and won a game...
I see people saying its going to be a struggle for the first 2 or 3 years we are looking at going 10-21. I get it its the whole being comfortable with the known and being afraid of the unknown. Well we all know what the known is, its 7th place in the MW.
Next lets get to the MWC its not like we play in the Big 12, SEC, BIG, Pac 12, or the ACC we play in the MWC if Beard had to go recruit 10 new players to UNLV right now i guarantee the talent alone would still be better that anything outside of SDSU. I know we play a national schedule and its going to be tough real tough we wont win all the games but come conference time the teams who are most tough and most prepared usually win. We will still have more talent than 90% of the MW. This is why i'm not scared of losing the known. We will be prepared for every game come conference.
I hope we have a group of guys that say you know what I want to stick this out play for UNLV and finish what i started. Its no surprise hearing Ben Carter came out excited. I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a whole lot more of Ben Carter types on UNLV in the up coming years.
