I was in Texas for work and I had the opportunity to go to the UNC-Texas game. I always like to see other schools home court environments stack up to ours etc. Especially in big games. I have to say I was disappointed. Granted UT is a football school but the game was a sell out and I compared their crowd to our crowd during our UNC game and other huge games at the Mack and our fans are louder and know the game better. Normally I'm pretty critical of our fans but no question in my mind we do hoops better. From pregame intros to crowd interaction and support we have them beat. Especially parking. Please don't take parking at the Mack for granted like I do. It's a haul just to park and get to the Erwin Center.
I sat with a bunch of guys from Texas that were excited during their pregame fireworks show from a box on the court and they were trying to tell me it has ours beat. I told them theirs were like a sparkler and ours are like a 4th of July spectacle. Texas boys don't like to hear anyone does anything better than them.
