Beard mentioned something when he was hired at UALR, he mentioned that it was important to be at a school that had "been there before", and how coach Knight insisted that was an important factor to taking a job.... now on the surface, acting like UALR had been there before seems a little ridiculous. However, coming from a DII school, Beard could look at the success that UALR had in the 80s (and in 1990 playing in the NCAA tournament, losing to UNLV...lol), and the recent success of getting to the tourney in 2011, and that those things created an atmosphere at UALR of expectations that lead them building nice facilities for a college their size, and expectations to win in their conference and get to the NCAA.

Now, Beard taking this job, he knows the success we've had, the expectations we have, and I believe he took this job to capitalize on our past, and not shy away from expectations, but views them as an advantage. I've got a gut feeling about the guy, but just hearing him speak, he sounds like a winner, and more importantly, A LEADER....I'm more than happy about getting this guy. I love buying into the up-and-comer and believing that their successes haven't been an accident....I've bought in 100% on this guy....I just hope those that aren't with me, at least give the guy a shot to prove it.
