Damn. Finished the article last night. I have close to you. I believe I have it 35-27.Rebs 34 Coogs 31. Coogs miss a 34 yard FG to tie in the last second.
Fkn copycat.REBS - 35
HOUSTON - 27
I think when UNLV is in no man’s land, 4th and 5 from the 32 yard line, UNLV will go for it. We will miss some FGs this year, but we will have more going for it on 4th down, too.UNLV 24, Houston 21
Both defenses aren't great, but both will be starting QBs new to their offensive system.
We miss at least 1 FG.
I read it first as "both defenses ARE great", and I was likeUNLV 24, Houston 21

I agree. I just think things can get sloppy in the first game of the season, and both teams are also good enough and probably evenly matched in terms of talent. So I just don't see this being a high scoring affair like many here. Especially in the rain which is very likelyI think when UNLV is in no man’s land, 4th and 5 from the 32 yard line, UNLV will go for it. And I don’t think UNLV will have a great defense … but I think it will surprise and actually be pretty good. Better than most of us expect. They won’t shut anybody out … but I don’t think they’re going to outright blow games either.
"THIS WEEK on Cox channel 121-5..."Game is on FS1, so we’ll have some eyeballs on this one. Great exposure for the program and I don’t believe it’s happened in unlv football history where we are on a premium channel/nationally broadcast game for 3-4 straight games.
Anyone remember the days of some regional or HS production/fringe channel?

I think I was fairly close on the estimate of a win by 24. UNLV won by 20 with a useless Houston score at the end otherwise they would have won by 27. UNLV is going to continue along the line of being underestimated even if they find a way to beat Kansas, but a win against Kansas would help and has the potential to get UNLV to a top 25 ranking for the first time ever during the regular season. Almost four decades of mostly losing ball is hard to overcome when it comes to the betting lines and media after only 1 good season.UNLV has lost badly to Houston three times in a row, it is time that UNLV wins. It is also time we quit playing home games for Houston with 3 games in a row at their home field!
Either UNLV will lose, or they will win big. If the QB comes out ready to play, I do not believe they can keep up"
UNLV 45 Houston 21

We weren't favoured but UNLV ranked higher in the Coaches Poll. UNLV got "some votes" in the top 25Houston was -3.5 last time I looked.
We weren’t favored.
I don’t think Houston was as good as people thought, time will tell, we will see more next week when they have a big road game. What if they compete? I don’t think they will, I honestly think Houston wasn’t good.Houston was -3.5 last time I looked.

Earlier in the season is the best time to beat the book. In a couple weeks, the books are too good...It was obvious UNLV was the more superior team even the coaches said so....I don’t think Houston was as good as people thought, time will tell, we will see more next week when they have a big road game. What if they compete? I don’t think they will, I honestly think Houston wasn’t good.
But we were a dog. On the road. Against a not so good team but one in a power conference. That counts for something.
Perhaps UNLV was a hell of a lot more prepared and focused than Houston, perhaps UH had zero clue our lines would show as they did and they just underestimated, UNLV hit them with a couple punches and they were dazed for the game. That happens. Hell, the same thing has happened to us in our sports where you are left scratching your head wonder what the hell … and we aren’t as bad, as the season goes on.
Just saying it’s one week. Just one week. Can’t get much smaller sample sizes.
