Commitment #HeyReb

Had a hard time digging much up on the kid to be honest. Nothing I could find on Rivals, but one of the other sites had him listed this season with 797 yards on 32 receptions for a 24.9 average. with 11 receiving TDs. Listed at 6'2 or 6'3 and 180 lbs. Only down side I could see (and I don't put a lot into 40 times) is that he ran a 4.8 40 yard dash. His yards per catch would indicate he is either faster than his given time or a really physical kid that is tough to bring down or very shifty in the open field.

Saw a little hudl film of him at a Nike camp. Not fast, but seems to be able to stop on a dime, change directions and has good hands. Speed an issue. Looks the part, tho. Interesting, but kinda outta nowhere.

I thought speed was an issue as well but HUDL lists him at a 4.5 40 which is plenty fast.

He is posting some pretty impressive stats this year.

I agree though a little out of nowhere though. But Coach C has a pretty good eye for WR talent.

Potentially a future TE?
Maybe, but if he is being looked at as a TE he would need to put on like 40lbs just to get up to 220lbs which would still be smallish for a TE even at the college level. Its possible though.

I think he was brought in to be a big physical WR.

I wouldn't put to much into any listed 40 times. Philip Payne had a pretty solid career and found a nice niche and he probably ran in the 4.6 range.

UNLV has had plenty of very successful non-burners as wide outs. Speed is just one part of it. Hands, routes, reading defenses, knowing when to cut off routes, etc. Casey Flair, Ryan Wolfe (though he was faster than he looked), Randy Gatewood, E. Johnson, etc. Hell, I don't think Kennan was a speed burner either, was he? Thinking back, I can't think of many receivers at all with world class breakaway speed.

I also had a tough time finding anything on him. I did see 2 newspaper articles from this season where he had 3 touchdown grabs in each of those games. That's certainly not a bad thing.

I agree totally. Those were some other good examples.

If we are lucky this kid is another DeVante Davis that flew under the radar.

He is posting some good numbers this year. In his highlight tape there are some obvious busted coverages but he looks like a smooth athlete with good hands. He is already 6'2/6'3 185. Figure by his junior/senior year he could be 215-220.

Alteady 11 TDs on the year. Said it in the other post but DeVante Davis had very little hype surrounding him and he turned into a very good receiver for us.
