There are a lot of articles regarding the new transfer policy the NCAA wants to put in place if you care to read them. Basically it gives the student athlete carte blanche to transfer 1 time for any reason. There are still a few issues to be worked out but the general consensus is that it is the right thing to to for the kids.

There is a lot of chatter about how Mid-majors will become a farm club for the power 5 schools. I don't see it that way. I believe there are a lot more disgruntled kids that are former high 3 star and 4 star high school athletes riding the pine that want a chance to shine than there are stars at smaller schools that want to take a chance at transferring and getting the PT they are getting at their current school.

Hey Bryce, wanna come to Kansas? Yeah we have a 5 star 6'6" wing coming in but hey you will have a chance to earn the starting spot.

I bet Kansas has a couple 4 stars that have been recruited over and would like to see the floor somewhere before they graduate.

Just my opinion!

Definitely see some situations playing out that way. I absolutely think it plays both ways. I know Zags aren't "P5" (which isn't a thing in basketball, and I'm not finger-pointing at you, because the ESPN and CBS media refer to the "P5" in basketball, just saying that access doesn't work the same way, even if the "high-majors" tend to get benefit of the doubt, it's not as though SDSU could go 30-1 and not get in the tourney. Heck, they probably still get a 1 if they finish at that mark) but when you have the SJSU kid a few years ago transfer to Gonzaga and be great there? That does sound sorta farmy to me.

I don't think it will hit the same extremes as some do, but I don't exactly think it will be great to The 25 conference not named B12, B10, P12, ACC, SEC, and Big East.

I think it is close to what we have now. The exemptions to get immediately eligible are laughable and also not applied consistently, so I would rather have an even field. Also? I think kids will have to be very cautious on using it. Sure you use it after a good freshman year, go to a lower Big 12 school and the coach leaves after your sophomore year...what are you going to do. I also don’t think the year wait is really that big a deterrent now. Look at the D3 kid at Baylor or the kids to Gonzaga, the year off actually helps going up in competition as it gives you time to work on your game with in theory better coaches (why else transfer?). Also, I hope if they do get rid of the year wait they also get rid of the grad transfer rule...to me it should be either or, but not I get a free transfer now and the another if I graduate with eligibility.

I believe that the new transfer rules might generally hurt the non power fives. However, I’ve always thought UNLV transcends the non power five scene. Even with our bad history over the last decade or so, we still have some almost mysterious allure. I believe it’s a combination of our all time tradition; the city we play in and our potential. Anyway, what I’m saying is... I think this new transfer stuff will not effect us much in a negative way. Could be a positive....

Basketball around the country including Elijah shows that guards can excel by moving on to a better option or system. Zags guards especially North Texas show having a team of unselfish Top Ten teammates can allow a lesser known player a great end to his college career. It shows talent level between Duke and North Texas is not always as great at the guard level. If you move, you better scout the team your moving to.
