great radio show with the Coach

That was great. Seems to be better and better as the days goes by.

I have to admit when you listen to him talk it is really hard to limit expectations. Different from Hauck who said he had a 4 or 5 year plan to get things turned around.

I really like Sanchez, too, but Sanford did set out 3 goals that he wanted to accomplish immediately (not that Sanchez is stating that he wants to win the MWC, be ranked in the Top 25, and win a bowl game all next season).

That's true. I think the difference though is Sanford came in with guns blazing not fully realizing just how bad the locker rooms actually were. He went to bed each night having nightmares about those locker rooms until they finally did him in.

But Sanchez' vision includes addressing problems such as locker rooms, fixing the culture, engaging the community, building stuff. He's dynamic and charismatic. I think the coaching staff Sanchez has assembled is exponentially better than the assistant coaches Sanford brought in. Mike Sanford hired guys like Vic Shealy who unfortunately taught our defense to play two-hand touch instead of tackle.

Not sure if your Rice analogy is meant to insult Sanchez and/or Rice, but it seems like it. If not, ignore this post. First off, it's apples and oranges...

But if Sanchez could bring UNLV football to where Rice has UNLV basketball, I think we would all be thrilled.

"Sanchez to UNLV football as Rice is to UNLV basketball."

I am taking this as a swipe at both of them..I get the negative sentiment towards Rice right now (although some of it is unjustified) but to take a shot at Sanchez after the buzz he has created, the money that has been donated to the program (over 240k in the last two weeks) and the great job he and the staff did in recruiting seems a little premature seeing as no games have been played. To be quite honest we are at least a full season to two full seasons away before anybody can even begin to make assertions as to whether or not the Sanchez hire was the right call.

Lets at least see the team take the field once before we start the catcalls about Sanchez.
