I really wish they would do it. Be ahead of the curve instead of behind. Some things to think about good and bad.

1. of all the coaches that are not currently on the staff thats being considered he may be one of few has that communicated with some of our players, which from a distance it seams a couple of the players do like him.

2. He understood in that interview he did that it takes a special IT factor to coach here and his acknowledgement of that alone makes me feel like he may have it. Tark knew that you had to have an IT and he knew Dave didn't have that it so thats why he didn't endorse dave at the beginning but of course once the decision was made and Dave being one of his former players he was going to support him.

3. Nowadays most color analyst used to either be pretty good players or coaches. Ok there are a lot of bad former coaches too that are doing it also, but my point is that color analyst job is to breakdown things for us the viewers from an x's and o's stand point, a coaches point of view and players point of view during the game. basically they are translators. Gottlieb is one of the best translators I have seen in a long time. Even when you compare him to some of the best on all levels. Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy, Jim Calhon on problem with him is that he tries to coach too much during the telecast probably because it is just in him.........Anyway there may be a few more but those guys fall into the category of when they breakdown things you want to listen to them. They grab your attention and you focus on what they are trying to actually say or what they are trying to make sense of. Especially Jackson and Gottlieb. A lot of us buy into what they are trying to sell us which is the number one of the main factors of coaching.

4.besides the candidates we have here already he seams the most passionate about being the coach of unlv. some people look at the fact that he won't start of anywhere as a bad thing, well me personal thats a man who knows where he wants to be, and won't waist there time at anywhere else unless they really want to be there.
I guy who has the audacity to make the public known to me definitely has the It factor. Also lets me know that he definitely is going to have have standards and won't just settle for anything (just any type of players or letting players do it there way). All of the elite head coaches think they are way better than just any old college anyway, now they may have built their selves to status but I bet you they felt like that the whole time.

5. I have a teenage son who plays basketball, been coached by me and a few others, loves to listen to Gottlieb when he starts going in on teams and whats wrong with them and what they should be doing. Not saying I got a 5 star recruit but all I'm saying is in todays college basketball world it is important to have someone who can demand these kids attention because they have the ability to tune out adults so easily.

Is it a risk. Yes but at this point what coach isn't. There are only a few that aren't a risk but none of them are asking for the job. Of course i would be scared of him and the infrastructure of the program because he is raw but I would still roll the dice. I think we would win big but of course we could crap out.
