Gorman takes first step towards...

Wait a minute, didn't they play a top 25 program and win easily? As I have said in the past, I am not a fan of BG, but I do respect the fact they play one of the hardest schedules in the country, typically at least 2-3 top 25 in the nation teams, and win the majority of those games. It should be pointed out that most of the teams ranked in the top 25 have almost unlimited budgets compared to most public schools.

Both reply-ers missed the point here, it seems. "Will" is a poster here who has less-than-favorable feelings towards BG (and oftentimes CTS). So this game was the first step towards making Will's head explode because they looked good out there and beat a quality opponent pretty handily.

And speaking of Gorman, which early commitments did UNLV get from Gorman players for next year? I'd like to watch the game again and look for them -slash- track them this season.

Two Lineman, Jaron Caldwell #75 and Julio Garcia #74.

Tried to pay attention to them as much as I could and from I what I saw they looked solid. Both definitely look the part of future College O Lineman.

The Gorman verbal commitments were two offensive linemen Garcia and Caldwell.

Good chance Gorman will be #1 in this weeks poll with #1 De La Salle and #2 Miami Central losing.

Not sure if that's a typo with two #75s, but regardless, I remember seeing several plays where #75 drove his player down the field and pancaked him and I thought, man I hope that guy is one of our Gorman commits. I guess he is. Good news.

Chandler's primary player, RB Chase Lucas, went down on the kickoff of their first possession on an awkward tackle and Moran is a first year starter at quarterback. Chandler ended up being pretty one dimensional and that made a huge difference the rest of the game though they could have tied before the Decker like interception near the end of the 3rd quarter.
The speed of Walsh was the key to the Gael offense as they really didn't show much the rest of the game before the two scores in the last 6 minutes of the game. Beyond the screen plays to Walsh, the Gaels produced just 79 yards through the air. 77 rushing yards out of 171 came on the Walsh 55-yard draw and the final minute 22-yard run by Shumaker.
Bingham and Poly are defensive teams that should test the Gaels in the coming weeks. It will be interesting to see how the Gaels finish out the next 4 weeks with trips to Utah and Washington coming up.
Overall, its high school football and Chandler is a public school that has just so many athletes. You lose a player like Lucas, its unlikely Chandler will be remaining among the nation's elite.
I will add that I was surprised Tony Sanchez allowed himself to be in position to be photographed

Typo. Both of the OT for Gorman are verbal commitments. I think they may project to OG at the college level.

Will, with as Detailed as Tony Sanchez has appeared to be I highly doubt he would put himself in a bad situation this early in his tenure. And how exactly is he supposed to avoid TV cameras and photos? As long he is not with a player in particular I dont see the harm in sitting in the stands to support his brother. Pretty sure this is a non issue.

Sorry I fixed it #74 and #75

Anyone going to the Bellevue game here in Washington. I'm going to try and go but I may not be able to get tix. Bellevue is crazy serious about their football and the #1 team coming to town will make it hard to find a seat.

Finding a corner of the stadium on the visiting side is where most coaches observe a contest or with their backs against the press box at the highest point.

Will, given CTS brother is head coach, does that change him being able to go to BGHS games during this period.

Maybe if he has the UNLV compliance guys checks it off with the NCAA. You just never want to draw unneeded attention.
Under the rules, I actually can't be seen in any college team's gear as well as being seen at a contest cheering the college team on without being in violation. It can be seen as me trying to influence the athletes.

Uneeded attention like posting it on a message board on the internet?

Considering the coach had to go and get permission to show up and receive his coach of the year trophy at BG, I am fairly certain that they would have made sure it was OK before he attend the game. As for undue attention, he is right that it was posted at many places talking about who was at the game. I also tend to believe that if it was against NCAA rules, they would have said something about it.

As for the NCAA, this is the same group that is allowing the big 5 to give money and other benefits to players all the time without any punishment. UNLV just needs to become a member of the big 5 and they can ignore all of the rules.

There's several posting on Twitter and Maxpreps has several photos.
Also saw it on the broadcast when I rewatched the game at home.
It was a joke Will settle down.

Also if you actually read the NCAA guidelines which are easy enough to look up online, you would realize that Coach Sanchez was not even remotely close to any type of violation regarding WHERE he was nor was there even anything close to him being in violation of the 'quiet period'.

Coach Sanchez has shown himself to be a guy who is very concerned with details both large and small. I find it hard to believe he would not check, double check and then confirm that he was not in any type of violation by attending the game.

Gorman improved to 2-0 with a 38-20 win over Bingham in Utah. Reports are Gorman eas pretty dominant throughout. They lead 17-0 and 31-6 at certain points of the game.

Based on Maxpreps, that means they beat the #9 and #61 teams in the nation. As I have said before, not a fan of BG, but do respect their abilities.

Chandler lost their 4* running back Chase Lucas on the first offensive play of the game becoming one dimensional.

Bingham's was a good win over a tough defense but they lack offensive athletes.

Bellvue's head coach is suspended and they are on three year probation for illegal recruiting

Long Beach Poly is the the last out of state team they play that has a decent team but they have had a shaky offense too. If the get past them, none of the remaining teams they face in the regular season currently have a winning record.
Biaggio is rulling the day for the early season and should be the top prospect on the team by the spring.

Will-

No excuses now. You predicted 2-3 losses, and now there is a very good chance they will run the table.

I don't want to hear about a team being down 1 player, coaches being suspended etc.

Maybe they were/are better than you thought.
