Am I smoking crack? I always thought the regular season champions AND the MW tourney champs were automatic bids. When did this change? Don't get me wrong. In this scenario with STDSU losing, I'm giddy they may be NIT bound.

Nope. Only the MW Tournament champions get the automatic bid. Always been that way as far as I know. The regular season champion gets bragging rights and the #1 seed in the conference tourney, but that's about it.

Hope sdsu goes NIT. They have no big wins and some very bad loses. Unlv had the biggest wins actually of all MW teams. Oregon and Indiana.

For last 8 yrs or so weve managed to get enough league wide cred to get atleast 2 in. This yr outside our OOC, everyone else flopped. SDSU had a bad showing in their OOC, with losses to SD, KU, utah, ALR, GCU... wins were against bad teams and non D1 teams.. not a single ranked team in conference to boost resume... and overall ad RPIs in conference

Normally I want as many teams in as possible because it helps our conference but I am absolutely giddy that SDST didn't get in.

Fresno has a tough draw with Utah.

Also I can't wait to see which teams play in the V16. Could be an entertaining tourney with the format. I think they secured the MGM right?

No one should be giddy. The MWC Fing sux and we're one of the main reasons. SDSU didnt do themselves any favors but they put the wood to us twice and completely own us.

I hope the MWC can get back to where it was so long ago - we weren't viewed as a "mid-major". Now there are more than a handful of mid-majors that are better than we are.

Truly a dark day for MWC basketball.

Fresno as the lone MW school and gets a #14 seed. If that doesn't tell you anything else, it'll tell you how far the conference has fallen and how the committee thinks of the conference.

Yeah, well I'm just pissed I couldn't get in on some 8 to 1 Fresno cash before the tourney.... but I did laugh out loud seeing San Diego were left out.

I'm pretty giddy that SDSU got squeezed out of the NCAAs. I just wish we would've been the ones to do it. As far as the MWC being down, well yeah, this kind of stuff is cyclical. The MWC is not good enough to put 5 teams in every year nor is it so god-awful as to only earn 1 invite during 'normal' years. Expect 2-3 teams to have an honest shot on any given year. Any more or any less is an aberration.
