ANYBODY that has a heartbeat. Desperation. They should lower the prices on tickets and give partial refunds. Like 75% maybe they could retain some for next year. Better product they could charge more $. Not before AFTER!

It is desperation and it’s really sad to see, but I cannot blame UNLV. You have to dump them where you can. It’s unfair to season ticket holders - paying 1K or whatever for their seats and the guy and his girlfriend sitting in front of you purchased a Caniac Combo for 9 bucks.

You can’t reimburse them. They should, however, get something, somehow, in the future.

If the season ends as it’s been going … it’s reasonable to expect no real hoopla headed into next season, unless you are a “don’t worry, be happy” Kumbaya-ist, the Rebels will have poor crowds again.

If that is the case, do you start balancing operating costs …. ?

Play the "big games" at Cox and the rest in the South gym. Maybe take the Chicago St or Praire View approach and play only road games OOC, join the Big West and bus to all of the games except Hawaii. The reality is UNLV BB is no better than those BWC schools anyway.

News flash - it aint 1990 anymore. No one is wearing Members Only and Starter jackets. Tark isnt walking through that door and neither are fans.

The Thomas & Mack cant support UNLV basketball. We are a mid-major school that doesn't care to invest in athletics. Why should it? What kind of fan base do we have that is beating down the doors for the next CSU game. UNLV basketball is in the same exact spot as UNLV football.

Thats reality.

Oh! Oh! I wear a Members-Only jacket.

I am worse! I actually donate, and pay for season tickets!
I agree this season will be a flop, although we will win more than last year.
Sadly, not by much.
Next year, I think will be better. Not great. Better.
Since I am not 100% against everything UNLV...

UNLV putting the interm AD who put in the vaccine rule for basketball as the permanent AD, removing Hey Reb as the school mascot, etc.. says everything about the school. Sad fact that the inmates are running the school into the ground!

That was our fearless leader Governor, Sissylackofsack who doesn’t understand Common Sense 101 let alone Biology 101.

My understanding is our Uni pres didn’t want it mandated. AD’s hands and president’s hands were going to be tied anyway.

You’re right about the rest. We may not be strong with athletics or academics, but on the Field of Woke, we are perennial Final Four contenders.

Funny considering what the program’s identity was forged upon which was extended the university … being Rebels. The exact opposite of woke.

That they massacred Hey Reb is no surprise.

I won’t be surprised with a name change either. Who cares, let them get what they want, like a statue of an important American figure, they tore it down to shit already.

This is what happens when you allow PC to run rampant.

Joe, you have absolutely no idea what "woke" is.
If your scientific knowledge is just as misguided, at least we understand why you are anti-vaxx.
Sorry, Scrub, but if we have to read Joe's political manifesto, sometimes you have to speak up.

I am disappointed with the scorching at Viejas. But, I won't give up.

Joe - Look it up it wasn't the Gov. it was the AD who at the time was the interim AD. If the rule had been enforced by the Gov., it would have included the football stadium also for UNLV football games. I am not sure on which thread, but I posted before the post by the AD where he posted that HE made the decision to require vaccines to attend basketball games. He was also heavily involved with the removal of Hey Reb - He is a piece of WOKE trash that I will never support, and his actions most likely have a lot to do with why they made him the permanent AD!

If that’s the case, the AD reaps what he sows.

I don’t think it made much of a difference though. They are giving away a couple of free tickets for 2 oz of cole slaw and people aren’t showing up.

Hey Reb is a racist pig, burn him. Red is the wrong color, get rid of it. I think we should probably topple the statue of Tark because he was an unsavory character, baaaaaad reputation. I’m sure there’s something wrong with the fight song, let’s change it to “Imagine”. We should rename Moyer student union if we haven’t already, I’m sure Moyer probably farted in public at some point.

You've peaked (peeked, piqued?) my interest. What is WOKE?

We took our hey reb statue down and got rid of our mascot…all because of Woke.

The administration pissed on our tradition and it all started when they took Hey Reb’s Gun away..

Warthog, good question. Referring to Joe's post that I reacted to, woke has nothing to do with Covid, mandates, or, truly Sisolak.
It also has nothing to do with the hiring of questionable persons. Coaches, AD or whatever.
It has nothing to do with academic or athletic reputation.

Woke is a slang term, originated in the 1940's in the black community, referring to "waking up " to racial injustice. It meant then, and means now, identifying racial injustice. Certainly today, with conditions changed, being woke has more to do with modern issues of race.

Woke means, as the word (or more linguistically correct, awake) means to be aware. To examine what you do and say. About race.

In terms of Hey Reb, certainly he was better than Beauregard. Being woke in Hey Reb's case is awareness that some may be offended. If a diverse university is represented by something that offends some of its members, being woke would point that out. The decision to eliminate is certainly debatable.

To claim that hiring a woman or a minority person is only a question of being woke if one assumes that women and minorities are not as qualified as white males.

"Being woke in Hey Reb's case is awareness that some may be offended."

But isn't there going to be some group that takes offense at almost anything? Wouldn't the effort to appease every group that takes offense end up in a completely bland and flacid society? Who decides what group to offend and what group to appease and what criteria should be used?

Correct, Warthog, that is what makes the situations like Hey Reb difficult. (No joke, my spell check changed that to Gay Reb. A whole different issue!)
My point was that hiring coaches. ADS, women, or minorities, covid mandates etc. are important debatable things.

But, being woke is not the solution to the problems. It is the awareness of racial issues.
Thus: woke.
We knew this for years. Only in the last few years has it been twisted Fir political purposes.

I went to the Maryland Pkwy and Flamingo branch. I said “Bring back Hey Reb”. Lady said what? “Bring Back Hey Reb” they called the cops.
