I remember him as a sporadic starter during his years. With Nantkes and then a completely forgettable QB, Jarrod Jackson.

The year you speak of we ran with 2 QB’s, Jason Davis and Jared Brown.

Unbelievable stat lines vs Idaho. Randy Gatewood had 23 catches for about 350 yards.

UNLV was getting blasted and then I think Davis relieved Brown and threw for over 300 yards in the 4th quarter.

UNLV lost, I was at that game, it was a crazy 4th Q comeback attempt.

I see it being one of 2 ways maybe a combination of both
He either has the brains but no skill or
The people calling the plays for him didn’t have the brains for the job.
