This situation really has brought out the best and worst of people hasn't it? I'm glad to see that at least, we the fans actually care About the program. Doesn't seem like the money people do. Ego's are huge.
Personally, I'm in the give Rice another year boat. But to be honest, it's because of the team we had this year. I really like them, and think they are hard workers, they have bonded, they believe in each other, in Coach Rice's vision, and in UNLV. I just picked up my rebel-net membership this season, and picked up 3 more season tickets this year for my newborn son, brother and sister in law, so the whole family could go to games together. I invested more into this team than in the past. Had high hopes for the future.
If this played out this way after last season, I might have noT cared as much. That team was fractured. It was a collection of individuals. Honestly, I love Runnin Rebel basketball, but I didn't care for those guys. I didn't care to see them get another chance..
This team could be something special. I think a lot of us have an emtional attachment to them. That's why it's going to be hard when they let Rice go and change everything. Sounds like the decision has been made and Howland is coming in. Maybe he'll keep some guys. Maybe he'll get us competitve. Maybe not. Either way, it just won't feel the same. I'd rather see it done with "our guys".
