Went to the game last night primarily to see Keshon Gilbert ( 2021 Commit).
I saw him twice earlier in the year and wanted to see his progression. I'm pretty high on our local recruits ( Collins, Swift, Uzan etc.) but I don't see what the staff is seeing in Gilbert. He's a good player, but IMO there are many players out there that we could get who are better. Keep in mind, I've only watched him three times so I could have hit three of his sub-par games.
He's about the same height as Collins but his physique is more filled out. He's quick but probably a step behind Collins. I really like his commitment to defense. He puts it all there staying in front of his man. But rest of his game ( handles, vision, IQ, outside shooting, inside scoring and penetration ) however, seems good but not excellent or close to exceptional. Is it possible we've offered him to get inroads to Coach Beeten and future recruits?
The player who has progressed on Durango is Sebastian Mack. Earlier in the year he seemed an average contributor and I really didn't notice him. Last night, however, he was the star for Durango. Able to penetrate and dish or score. Really nice stroke from the ARC. Quick with the ball and committed to defense. What really impressed me was that as a Freshman his coach ( Beeten) was communicating instructions to him (and not the upper class men) as he brought up the ball and the entire teem seemed to play smother when he was in. He's the same size as Collins but he is only in the Ninth grade and hopefully he will grow several inches. He is absolutely a player to watch.
