For the first time in a year, I listed to that waste of time on ESPN 1100. I thought I was going to get objective analysis.

By the way Mitch Moss tells it, this is the best hire ever. Beard's press conference will fire everyone up to the point of pure hysteria. I'm glad we got him before Duke fired Coach K and stole him out from under us. If this guy is so great, why did it sound like we were the only ones going after him?

Now I've said my piece. I won't be listening to ESPN radio until the next hire. I realize it is a mouthpiece for the university and TKM.

I think it was a good hire, too. What would you have liked them to say? Pitino ain't walking through that door.

I would have liked some real critical and balanced analysis. Not a bunch of a cheerleading. I'm not looking to bash the guy. I'm looking for a true sports discussion. If you would have heard them today, this hire was the anti-Rice so everything is going to be great.

They went on about how this coach is going to work throughout the night, establish discipline, turn us around to 30 wins in one season. How does anyone know this? All people know is one game that he coached. But I'm supposed be sold because.....

Be honest, you tuned in expecting to hear them rip the hire and when they were positive about it, it just tore you up inside. This is why Anti-depressants are as common as aspirin in the USA, some people just love negativity.

Beard just had a Kruger 2007-type 30 win season at Little Rock. I'll take a swig of magic in a bottle over the Run as Bums hype of the last 5 years. If it turns out to be rotten I'll spit it out but I'll take Kool-aid over Haterade anyday.

Great line..."You went in expecting haterade, and are upset to find koolaid instead."

Vanderbilt was pursuing Beard after they lost Stallings btw.

Hence the last minute evening Easter meeting. TKM put it togther and made it happen. Some will continue to rip on her, but she did save our FB program with the Sanchez hire, as she did bringing in donors to build the clubhouse for the baseball team and donors to save the men's soccer team. It's easy to judge the past with present eyes but most of the contract extensions she issued, the fans approved of, at the time.

Take it easy Chicago, she didn't save the football program yet. It was on life support and despite positive signs is still in critical condition. It could still go either way.

She's given three different coaches extensions, only to have all of them fired shortly after..This coaching search was a bit embarrassing as it affirmed our nationwide reputation of having a mickey mouse show of an AD/pres. As much as I like the Sanchez hire, to describe it as "saving our FB program" is extremely exaggerated and short sighted. Her days are most likely numbered.

How has the coaching search been an embarrassment, really? Because we went after a few coaches who turned us down, because we made an offer to a coach who accepted then went home, lost his balls and changed his mind? How is any of this TKM fault? Besides, no one outside of Rebel fans really knows anything that has happened here. Heck most don't even know we have hired Beard and won't know until they cover the press conference when UNLV makes the formal announcement. Truth is UNLV has been invisible to most outside of Vegas and our alumni/fans for years. I get that she is not the most likable person, but she seems to be doing the best she can for an Athletic Department that neglected all other sports but men's basketball before she took over. You are wrong if you don't think the Sanchez hire saved the program. Just look at the FB message board compared to before he was hired and now. It took guts to hire a HS coach but she did it. I, for one, want to hear from Robert Smith to know what really has gone on during the hiring process first, before I form an opinion on whether or not TKM should stay.

I never know if you're trolling or actually genuine in some of the outlandish stuff u say. Either way, I'll take the bait. This coaching search was a dumpster fire of a process. If you think potential coaches nationwide don't know about the reputation of our AD/pres, then you are sadly mistaken. She completely fumbled the Cronin courtship and called him out afterwards to boot which was an extremely unprofessional and foolish thing to do. Or how about texting reporters real time updates of how the interview is going? The things she says and does in public make her look like an amateur. I mean even listening to her bitch and complain on radio makes me want to gauge my own eyes out. http://www.lvsportsnetwork.com/2016/03/25/audio-unlv-ad-tina-kunzer-murphy-on-cronins-snub-of-unlv/

"I heard on the news that (Cronin) was staying Cincinnati, so I wish him the best." -- UNLV AD sounding like she had no grasp on situation

"Maybe we dodged a bullet." UNLV's athletic director on Cronin.

These are comments that an AD at a division 1 school should never make.

So just for clarification, we are judging the "revival" of our FB program based on message board activity? It has nothing to do with on the field success right? B/c I saw a team win 3 games with one of those wins coming against a D2 school last year. Don't get me wrong, I'm a strong supporter of Sanchize, but to say that he's instantaneously saved our football program is just flat out inaccurate and typical of the rhetoric that comes from you.

Do not give any of the credit for coach Sanchez to TKM, because she really had no choice and was forced to rubber stamp his hire. His hire is a very good move, that looks like it will pay of big time, but that was due to numerous boosters willing to help the program if, and when, he was hired.

If you want to look at her hires look at the extension for Hauck, extension for Rice, baseball coach extension and hiring of the new coach from the existing without any national search, and hiring a women's basketball coach that was a total failure. If the football program has not finally shown signs of turning around, the athletic department has had one of the worst years in decades.

Nobody knows what is going on behind the closed doors. Doesn't matter what happened with Cronin. He changed his mind, even if he had signed the contract, with out the BOR approval, it wasn't a binding contract so he could have still withdrawn his acceptance. Either way, it's not TKM fault. It is something that happens all the time. How could she know he changed his mind if he didn't have the balls to tell her. That's on him. Would you rather she lie? She's right, we did dodge a bullet. I think she was professional, she called Cronin out and didn't let him get away with his lies. We have a good coach now and I really dont think anybody cares how we got him. I'm judging the "revival" of the football program, ofcourse on the on field improvements, but also based on the renewed interest shown on the message board as well as all the positive things being discussed there.

All the extension to the coaches were given after they had achieved a certain level of success and to judge them now in hindsight because the coaches failed is unfair. No one complained at the time and wouldn't be complaining now if it worked out. Look how many people are complaining we didn't fight to keep Krueger but back then people were happy to see him go. She has been very successful with fundraising to improve UNLV's athletic facilities but gets no credit for that. Should she be replaced when her contract is up, truthfully I don't know. Her personality is offputting. There is so much more going on that we. as fans, have no clue about. But, I will say, I think she did the best she could to get the best basketball coach she could given budget restrictions and a weak MWC. what more can you ask of an AD

" I think she was professional, she called Cronin out and didn't let him get away with his lies."

There is absolutely nothing professional about making public comments that basically amount to a he said she said. There is nothing professional about texting reporters live updates of coaching interviews. There is nothing professional about shit talking someone that rejected you. What are we in middle school? That is some Trump supporter logic right there.
You do know that the coaching community is for the most part, a tight nit community/fraternity right? And what success did CDR have before strong arming his way into an extension from his naive boss?
If we can make a bowl game by year 3 or 4 of Sanchize's tenure or we start seeing some major facility upgrades, then you can talk about the revival of our FB program. Until then, it's 3 wins a year which has basically become the norm around here for any coach.

There has been this perception around here that she was texting updates on interviews during the process. Can anybody show me one of these? I followed pretty closely and the only texts I heard about was her responding to messages asking for comments and her saying no news. What's the problem?

As for making the Cronin comments.. I would have done the same. To hear her tell it, he contacted her during the season after Rice was fired. They no doubt vetted him against other candidates for awhile and decided they liked him. He comes down, kicks the tires, says I like it, goes home to tell everybody and disappears. She was trying to protect the reputation IMO. There is a perception that we try to lure him here and pursued him and she is saying not true, he came to us. Again... What's the problem?

Like was mentioned, at the time she gave those extensions there was almost unanimous approval from the fans.

The hate going her way right now is based off of a ton of rhetoric and resembles something coming from the mouth of a republican candidate for president.

from what i was told, Mark Anderson was getting updates from her.
i don't agree with how she handled the Cronin thing by a long shot.
letting people you got turned down for $1.5 million for Bennett was something else that was not bright.

the hiring of Sanchez may end up being great (or not). the hiring of Beard may end up being great (or not). neither were her doing.

we ended up with Beard because of her biggest mistake and that was the mid-season firing. so she may just be an idiot savant from a village.

I took all of those updates as leaks within the Athletic Department. If she was updating then she deserves it. I thought that was a rebelnet rumor.

Wise up man, both parties are two heads of the same dragon. The same kingmakers run America no matter which figure head is put in front of the sheeple.

Tina is her own worst enemy, if she'd just kept her mouth shut and got on with it she wouldn't getting so much grief. The Cronin saga should not have played out in public.

The only update/comment she made during the Cronin interview was to confirm that Cronin was still in Vegas and they would be continuing their interview later in the morning. The rest of the circus was created by local and social media and possibly Cronin's own agent. Not a fan of TKM after she fired Rice mid-season but I don't think she should be blamed for the circus. What about some of the players mocking UNLV during the process? The social media made this situation seem like it was a bigger deal than it was only because most of us subscribe to other Rebel fans but outside of UNLV fans, nobody paid any attention to UNLV.
