DRF to UCLA?

There's been a lot of smoke about this for awhile.

Big question. Who would replace her?

Both as in "who would be her replacement?" and "who would do the hiring of her replacement?". Fill-in president Marta has been acting pres for nearly two years but is not a candidate for the permanent position. The 29-member search committee includes a lot of local politicians, which is mainly why former Gov Sandoval was eliminated (and it sounds like he will end up at UNR).

It's not an ideal scenario by any stretch.

Hard as it may be to imagine it could get worse.

Governor Sandoval would be a great UNR president but I’m sort of glad he’s not in the running for the UNLV job. I’d rather have a president who has UNLV as his clear number one priority and not a UNLV #1A and UNR #1B situation.

We need someone who’s willing to fight NSHE and UNR for what we deserve. That’s not Sandoval. Remember when the Nevada Legislators passed a bill to make UNLV a Land Grant Flagship institution? Sandoval vetoed it because it would have given UNLV equal status with UNR and he didn’t want to take millions of dollars away from UNR and have it end up at UNLV.

She agreed to a five-year deal pays $350,000 annually. Reed-Francois, 44, begins June 1, and the contract runs through June 30, 2022. If there is any buyout clause, how much do you think it would be with only 2 years left at $350K per year on her contract?

I have no doubt that she didn't withdraw her name due to wanting to stay considering the pay would probably be far higher, but at least we don't need to worry about any more unnecessary turbulence in the athletic department for now. Her main goal needs to be to find a way to allow attendance at the football and basketball games, and to ensure that the Arizona State game is at the new stadium. If she or anyone else at UNLV has any political connections at all, they need to force this issue down the throat of the Las Vegas Stadium Authority.
