I linked the entire article but one part caught my attention.

Is there something else brewing beyond possibly hiring Mullen? Was this just purely speculation? Just lumping MWC/PAC together? Is UNLV back in talks with the PAC potentially?

I'll save you guys the time of reading entire article this is the part I'm referencing.

'Part of UNLV’s pursuit of Mullen includes an NIL and revenue-share commitment, Nakos reported. The school is gearing up to roll out one of the top budgets in the Mountain West and, later, the Pac-12 once the Rebels make the move.'

This is the tweet/report they are referencing. I think the guy is saying UNLV will have one of the top NIL packages in the MWC OR PAC12 and the writer of the article interpreted it as UNLV is intending to make the move to the PAC12. I can't see UNLV turning down the deal the MWC offered unless they suddenly got some kind of influx of booster money.

When i first read that point I just thought they meant the best NIL between the 2 conferences once they make the move to hire Mullen.

But you are right it sounds like they are saying UNLV is making the move to the PAC 12.

But even after re reading that, i just think the author is just mistakingly thinking we were one of the teams that are part of the move. Otherwise saying that UNLV is going to the PAC would be a bigger part of this article

Yeah I'm thinking the author of the aeticle either misinterpreted the tweet or isn't familiar with what's going on with the MWC/PAC drama and is assuming UNLV is still in the mix for the PAC.

Nowadays, journalists in any genre don't actually do any legwork or research. They just regurgite what they read or hear from someone else.
They’re like anybody else on the internet, which is everyone.

Sources are the internet. No hitting the phones, no actual legwork, no longer any research, unless you call sifting tweets research, which is risky because there is/can be intentional counter information.

It sucks, because in the old days, even though there were shitheels that we didn’t like … at least they had to do the actual work to put out a story, there was a higher level of integrity.

Now with the internet and AI, you too, can be a legitimate reporter and you don’t have to worry about being wrong, either. Just blame the other guy.
