"Deville" Seagears... I feel like I've seen this movie and I don't like how it ends...

Who would you like to see as the primary ball handler / distributor for the Rebs come MWC play?

OK, I like Jerome Seagears, don't get me wrong. I really like how he takes the ball to the basket and scores in traffic. But I'm not sure he's a point guard and not a scoring guard.

We've seen this experiment before... the transfer guard who didn't play PG at his previous school but is being "developed" as a PG here. But ball handling and leadership instincts aren't something that appear overnight.

Who should be running this team in March? I've really liked what I've seen from Poyser. I believe that Patrick McCaw is the catalyst that will lead this team if it does do anything in March.

Like what poyser is doing but it's kind of a small sample size, seagers has some head scratching moments but then again so does Ike, I think Mccaw is good as the 2 but can live with him as the 1 .Hope we see poyser more as the season goes on due to the fact we know what seagers is about and he tries to be a scorer and we need that ,but a bit less than we need a facilitator

Cook is like the blue meth in breaking bad. He's as pure of a PG as you can get.

Time to unleash Rice's Sith Apprentice.
its 2015. We got him in 2012.

Rice has got to show the ability to mold a PG.

Let's look at each of the 4 players that can play point as of today.

McCaw:scorer, defender. The perfect Combo Guard. Spells minutes when he can.He does look uncomfortable holding the ball and directing traffic. Very good in transition in the wing but Haven't seen enough of him as a passer. Former unlv player that reminds me of: greedy Daniels on defense. lou kelly on offense .

Seagers: experience, average to below average defender. I absolutely hate him on the pick. Doesn't look to pass after getting 2 guys to commit to him. Never seen him stop his dribble in traffic and kick out if he's in trouble. He'll usually try to finish which leads to missed layup Or a blocked shot. Shot selection. I don't even want to go there. He gets away with it because Rice can't bench Him and replace him DQ or Cornish.
Reminds me Oliekabe/Bellfield

Daquan Cook. passer, great in transition with the ball. Underrated passer. Been in the system for 3 years. He's still a huge unknown but what I've seen of him is exactly what I want as a PG. pass first. Now he might be a terrible defender according to our practice spies or maybe he isn't D 1 material as some have inferred. But once he's out of suspension, I am looking for him to get better and increase minutes as conference play kicks and we lose stamina. Remind
Me of Greg Anthony on O.

Poyser: Athleticsm, very good open 3 point shooter. Weaknesses:not enough experience. I really like his improvement and working his way into the lineup for more minutes. I am not sure he's the answer at the 1 spot. I do like seeing him replacing Ike as the season goes on at the 2 spot. Not so sure at the 1 because he's those new age point guards that look to score first.
Pass 2'nd. Reminds me of Tre Wilis om.

No one to blame but himself for where he is right now. His lack of play is not a result of the Coaches.

I think I was on a bender towards the end of this post. Lemme do this over again

Daquan Cook..greg anthony in transition, on offenses heck he even lost a tooth compared to Anthony breaking his jaw..( i dunno)...

Jury is out of DQ and Defense and offense. I dunno Vince Booker??

So Poyser, Trevon on offense, defensively..not so sure

No doubt Poyser will make mistakes, they all do. Especially being a freshman, but the potential much higher than Seagears. Have lost my voice a couple times yelling at Seagears to pass to a wide open carter and zimmerman a few times as well. Think would be great for poyser and seagears to basically split the minutes. Both bring something. Just seems like with the touch fouls it huge to have a PG that can penetrate and put pressure on the D.

Nice take. I really like the term "new age point guard".

Poyser's stats in games he gets significant (12 or more) minutes:

I'd like to see him get more minutes, at the expense of Seagears and Nwamu.

Bad PG play has been a constant in the Dave Rice era. Most important position on the floor.

Poyser is the first potentially good one Rice has brought in. I'd say he's about the only chance Rice has to save his job this year.
