Daquan Cook Suspended

Yeah I was wondering how 13 games is the amount determined for the suspension? Is that the end of the fall semester... just kind of seems arbitrary.

Hope DQ can get beyond this. He's shown a great amount of loyalty and perseverance to the program.

Keep in mind he has no redshirt. He'd lose a full complete year if he transferred. That would be basically 2 years from playing.

Yes he should be back in the 1st conference game.

Awesome.

I really hope Cook can bring something to the table. I don't know anything about him personally, but the fact that he's been around so long (quietly) and seems so well liked says something. One would think his recent misstep would have sent him packing if the staff didn't really want him around.

I'm actually really interested to know what kind of guy Cook is, beyond the recent mistake. Is he a good leader? Is he sharp/bright? Good work ethic? Good influence?

It would be cool to see him carve out a role this year, then come back as a senior PG to mentor Fisher next year. Assuming Pat does what i expect him to do there will be minutes available.

If the offense can run smoothly with Cook on the floor I'm less concerned with his D. This team needs the option to go to a pass-first PG, at least in spurts. In the limited minutes I've seen him play he didn't seem overmatched athletically in D1, like say, Cody was.

Don't see Cook being much of a factor, unless injury occurs. I hope he gets some minutes because it's rare and great to see a kid stick his commitment out. He truly is a Rebel. Thinking his contribution will be his mentoring of the younger players and pushing them hard in practice. Next year PG spot even deeper.

I expect Daquan to get somewhere around 6 minutes a game unless there are injuries. I think he will be #4 at the PG position behind Jerome, Pat and Jelan. Next year would be #3 at best even though he is a senior. There is a pecking order and Daquan has never been at the upper end of it and will probable finish his career here in much the same position he has always held.

Some people are predetermined to be the guys that will have the majority of the PT and they hold those minutes to the greater extent about no matter what their performance is. Expect Jerome to get 30+ minutes per game for the remainder of the year in much the same way Cody did.
