Curious about post from Shelby McIntire from UNLV football?

Because we can address a lot of our needs by signing 30+ recruits this year. Half during the early signing period, the number is higher than normal because of a the few players that entered the transfer portal.

Have there been any updates on which recruits are coming this weekend? Any indication that its going to be exceptional?

Not sure but, according to 24/7 sports we have the 93rd ranked class nationally for 2022. Even worse we are ranked 7th in the MW one lower than "F"Reno at 6, SMH!. CMA needs to step up his recruiting game if he plans on having more than 2 Wins next season!

The avg rating of players is 2nd in conference I believe. With how volatile the portal has become I think a lowish number of overall recruits this early is ok as long as what you have brought in is solid talent-wise.

Did Nick Dimitris played this year or did he RS?

USC is currently ranked 101 in the country and last in the PAC-12. They are so screwed!!!

I don't know for sure who is coming this weekend, but it looks like many of our current commits will be here.

I'd assume that we're going to have a ton of current and potential commits here. Let's see how things play out.

Interested to see how his game will translate to this level. Might not be too bad of a loss w/o Widmon.

Losing Jacoby will hurt. He was a dynamic player.

That said the defense as a whole could/should improve.

DBs were relatively young. Another year should help.

B. Scott played very well down the stretch.

If and this is a big if...

The secondary takes a step forward and they are able to bolster D-line play, losing Jacoby won't hurt as bad.

Biggest needs.

Solid DT/NT that can occupy multiple blockers. Doesn't need to be all that disruptive in terms of TFL/sacks. Just a big space eater.

Edge pass rushers. Nothing helps out a secondary more than a good pass rush..

Not to worry. The 30-60% cost increase for football 2022 tickets and parking should bring in lots of fans. Who doesn't want to pay more for 2 wins?
That will help recruiting and home field advantage.
Allegiant looks great empty.

Based on 247, UNLV has the highest rated players, the only issue that keeps their numbers down is that 3 of their nine listed recruits have not as of yet been rated, and thus they don't count against the overall score as of yet. UNLV 84.76 verse BSU 84.21 rating! UNLV has an 84.30 (84.76 average) overall score verse unr 86.37 score . UNLV has 6 players with rating verse 8 for unr. BSU has 169.45 with all 18 players rated compared to an 84.30 score for UNLV from 6 players being rated. My best guess is UNLV would move up to an overall score in the 100-110 range when the 3 other players get ratings which would put them around 4th. The third ranked recruiting class of Utah State is based off 20 recruits with a much lower average.

I also noticed at least 3-4 players that are on official visits this weekend per their own post. The hope is that UNLV will pick up a couple of high ranked recruits to put them at the top of the MWC recruiting.

Isayh Sayles (sp) is a space eater. Kid is big and like to land on top of people.

The Salisbury kid is puzzling. He moves much faster as a defensive player than a offensive player. He is almost downright frightening as a defensive player.

Our lone QB signing being labeled as the nation's "elite player". It will be an interesting battles at the QB position next year. Rogers is done and perhaps transferred out but if he stays, the better...

In a Patriots' offence, this kid would be made into a inside slant wide receiver or an all purpose yard type like Julian Edelman type. Tough and smart player that will find opponents' weaknesses in the coverage.

Good thing signing day is 2 days before the season ticket discount renewal deadline. I know that the vast majority of players signed won't have an impact for 2-3 years but it seems as if there was a LOT more excitement last year than this. But if it flops back to a lower-tier MWC class, uh, yeah-no.

If they want to be fair, the price should be based on the last season, and they should discount by 10% for each game under a winning record. A record of 0-12 would be a 60% discount, a 2-10 record would be a 40% discount!

Plenty of empty seats. Increasing ticket cost by 25+%, not too mention raising parking rates, nearly doubling total costs to "punish" the faithful is the wrong way of going. It stings to see that kind of hike given the sparcity of the arena.

Parking creates a barrier fo many fans, they need to make it as easy as possible to get people in the building. Create an atmosphere, get concessions, and give them a fun experience to come back to.

Now I get it, they moved into the fancy new arena, and they did ticket holders a favor by keeping Sam Boyd prices for that opening year. I don't know the economics of running that building. But to meincreasing attendance is the way to go. I remember reading that the average fan spent $30 per game in concessions at Sam Boyd 10 years ago. I would imagine that number would be much larger these days.

It sucks because that's just a symptom of what this city has become. Yeah, UNLV is disproportionally expensive given the product. But so are a lot of other things in this city. Vegas went ultra-corporate. More money, less quality. It's all over the place.

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think he's with the team anymore.
That's what I've heard also.

In fact, he has scrubbed any mention of his 4 months as a UNLV walk-on from his social media bio - he's back to being a "Miami graduate".

Martell's return to LV ended with little notice, much like that of his high school teammate Biaggio Ali Walsh.

Said it from the start.

I would not have been surprised if he came in and started and played well..

Or

Was gone before end of season...

Grimes was suspended for the rest of the last season under Sanchez for breaking team rules. He ended up leaving and went to Weber State.
