If I was a university president I would not allow this, I get that it helps you reach out to candidates and deny involvement. However, an AD should have contacts that can do that and for sure they should never need them to help with a list.
Btw, the same article came up with these names; “Potential candidates expected to be involved, sources told ESPN, include
Murray State's Matt McMahon,
Baylor assistant Jerome Tang,
North Texas' Grant McCasland and
San Francisco's Todd Golden”
None of those are obvious upgrades over Martin. Going from the OVC to A big 5 is not easy ask McMahons former boss. Martin got a raw deal. If the AD doesn’t change he probably gets another year. With the change DRF and probably most ADs saw a chance to make a quick splash with a big hire.
