Hearing good things from camp. Hopefully it will translate into a better season.

Five wins for the rebels is like a New Year’s Day bowl for most teams. My honest opinion.
Team will be visibly better. Like last year there will be a number of close games, and they will fall just short of bowl eligibility. Something like 5-7...
Won't be appetizing for most,
But it's a realistic expectation for progress and building 'culture'..

Over 2 or 3 seasons?Extend Arroyo now because we are winning 9! You heard it here first!

I say it’s a major bowl game. We may battle Ohio State in one of them. UNLV has arrived! (It’s the preseason, we can say that).Extend Arroyo now because we are winning 9! You heard it here first!
The need for the winning record is more based on what will happen with the Pac12, Big10 and Big 12! UNLV needs to quickly put themselves near the front of the pack before things settle out!
This is basically my expectation. I do think this is progress, and I think Arroyo is trying to make this a "breakout" year given how he has recruiting this offseason.
Is 5 wins a breakout year? In general, no. But for UNLV you could make that argument.
I do think this team may be capable of more than that, I just don't necessarily expect it.
Good point, its hard losing arguable the best 2 pieces on defense from last season.I don't disagree.
B
I'd feel more confident if Jacoby hadn't transferred and Scott weren't injured.
That said, maybe the defense will be better through the aggregate (more good pieces, guys improving after a year of experience).
But hard not to think those two won't be missed. One you could navigate around but both? I don't know...
Agreed, that's the issue with losing Scott to injury. That's one less layer of depth we have going into the season. If and when more injuries occur, it won't take as long to get to the end of the depth chart.Good point, its hard losing arguable the best 2 pieces on defense from last season.
It at least feel like we have better depth that we have had in years. We alway have had a decent set of ones, but signficant drop off leading player wearing out in games and cumulatively throughout the season.
It is also huge is navigating the inevitable injuries. This if football, they happen. All the time. It sure keeps me busy in the fall.
It it as good as perceived? We won't know until the season starts.
You are thinking right, I’m with you, it’s about time we were bowl eligible! The more I’m hearing about this team the more Koolaid I’m drinking. I hope this isn’t another in the line of letdown seasons.
I’m getting to the point of 6-7 wins at least and being within 21 of Notre Dame. Someone talk some sense into me, please.
I sure hope your right. I am not going to hold my breath but would be a great and would sure go a long way for the future of the teams success. The more I’m hearing about this team the more Koolaid I’m drinking. I hope this isn’t another in the line of letdown seasons.
