All fun aside, Sanchez will do perfectly fin as an assistant coach, and with 5-10 years on the job training he may end up as a very good college head coach in the future. He did a lot overall for the program, and I hope he ends up landing on his feet at a good program.

You are right Sir. I feel really bad about my post. But, I can not let an opportunity go to make a funny. Sanchez did much for the program, just not on the field...I do, however, wish him well...

I think even that is arguable. He inherited a team that went 2-11/2-10 in four of five seasons and finished with 4 wins 3 times, and 3 and 5 wins once each. He did a lot at UNLV on the field, just didn't do what is hoped any coach would do - win more games every year than the previous year.

I think the trajectory is what was troubling.

3,4,5,4,4

Seemed to peak in year 3 and then tread water years 4 and 5.

I think...

Every human being involved in any way with UNLV since the 90's needed impulsive behavior education lol.
28 years of impulsive off the cuff/hip decision making. If UNLV was a fortune 500 back then, we'd have gone bankrupt or bought out about 5 years later. Bad CEO after bad CEO. But hey, he/she could always run for president!

Edit: Maybe Bezos can buy us out! Or Elon! Nike...Under Armor....Nah, we rockin' that new SpaceX swag! I'd buy season tickets then at least.

Player doesn't buy in? F*ck it, on the ship to Mars with you!

Sanchez has good connections in the college coaching circles, he is a good recruiter, and I don't see him stepping back into the high school ranks when he can look forward to a job as an assistant coach at the college football level towards his long term career goals!

It would feel too much like running home with his tail between his legs, too. I dont think that was his style to be honest. Not to mention the "well you just fired my brother" angle....

It appears Sanchez has interviewed for a job in Boise and possibly in Tucson.

Looks like, based on openings on each staff, RB at BSU and TE at UA.

He was a TE at NM State if I recall correctly. As a position coach I don't see much experience there the last 10 years. He would have been better off to work his way up in college rather than get thrown in as a HC with zero experience. Maybe the UA job would work since he at least played the TE position in college.

I was thinking he was a wide out at NMSU?

Either way, yeah a definite possibility that it was a disservice to his growth as a coach to do it the way it happened. But a no brainers to some extent to take a d1 head job, you know?

According to the always accurate wikipedia...

He was a WR at Laney JC and then again at NMSU.

I knew it was on offense. I didn't look it up I was just going off my memory. You can see how that works.... not real well.

Been there I didnt look for that particular response but I have looked in the past month or so.

If he was a WR as a player and neither school had a WR opening,I'm interested in the move. I know guys coach positions they didnt play all the time and 8t isnt a big deal. But he had been a managing HC for 10+ years while not being a primary coordinator. It's about as far from position coach as you can be while still be a coach. I'm interested in how it plays out for sure
