You could argue that Christian Laettner is the player that really helped Coach K cement Duke as a dynasty program, while Coach K was just fine before Laettner came onboard, he was really the transformational player that clearly defined what Coach K was trying to accomplish at Duke, and their personal relationship probably helped in this process as well....could Zimmerman be the same guy for Rice? Apologies if this is a nonsensical post but it was something I was thinking about after watching last's nights 30 for 30 documentary. It would be an interesting comparison for sure.
