It is so refreshing to see the interviews at the final 4 and the coaches and players involved and see their commitment to a higher standard and the common thread of working hard and overcoming adversity. It doesn't take a genius to realize what wins championships it's the same in the game as in life you set your standards and create the discipline and culture and then when things don't go as planned you pick up the pieces and you work to overcome adversity.
That is where the gold is through the adversity and the challenge and when you are challenged and realize you can get through things you grow and you rise up to the challenge and that is how teams win.
It has been so long since we have had any consistent approach or discipline in any fashion on our program UNLV has become a rudderless ship, I hope for the programs sake that we have hired someone who can see past the mess currently and create a culture where players realize there is no free lunches and when you sign at UNLV you are ready to work and when things go bad you don't go on an immature rant on twitter or rally for a cause that has nothing do with anything Team or school oriented.
I hope we recruit players who want to be challenged and not what we have seen the past x amount of years here, I'm so tired of the immaturity level and self entitled player we have had recently, I wish no bad ill for any of them but please if you can't stand the fire leave because, the time is now to build a real program where boys become men and good players have the opportunity to be great and when we win we win as a team, and a school and a city.
It seems we have the right kind of leader lets support this hire and build something real, its time to not forget the past but to establish our new identity as a school and program, and we need to support the process because in this instant results world what is lost so often is the value of the process and my friends it is the process which matters most when it comes to true success and winning, we need the grind, we need the failures, we need the challenges and disrespect we need to create this culture at all cost.
Very jealous seeing the maturity of the players and coaches at the Final 4 we need that desperately.
Good Luck Coach Beard lets start this thing and build for a new day.
Go Rebels!!!
