Apparently CKK has two years after this one. He was extended after the first season.

“In some discussions of Kruger’s future, this season is referenced as the last before what would be a “lame duck year.”

That would be true if Harper hadn’t inked an extension to Kruger’s five-year contract after his first season on the job.

A UNLV athletics spokesperson said there was never a release to announce the extension because timing conflicted with other news out of the program.

The amendment, which was obtained by the Review-Journal, extended Kruger’s deal through the 2026-27 season and includes a $2.35 million buyout if he’s fired before June this year.

CKK will be back for a fifth year. Harper seems to be ok with a 5th year, even going as far as to say it’s not all about wins and losses. The fact that Harper extended him after year one, shows he’s invested in this hire and probably agreed with DRF to hire him. Good luck coming up with 2.35 million + new coach salary, plus their buyout potentially.

What a relief that we will get to enjoy this style of ball for another year at least!

In all honesty, I hope he’s learned from his mistakes of allowing one player to play one-on-one while the other guys stand around and watch. Move without the ball and you’ll open up opportunities.

That is basketball 101. If it took him 4 years to figure that out then we got bigger problems and that was because it fell in his lap .

He's done it every year he's been here. HARKLESS , THOMAS AND HAMILTON

I'm not going to renew my season tix. Much cheaper to buy tickets to select games as I walk up.
Harp did well with football.

If he gets tied in, it’s his own undoing by offering an extension like that promptly after abject failure.

And the thing is - pretty easy to predict. That unless there is some drastic monumental epiphany, we will see bland transfers, bland recruiting, slapped together roster of ineffective duplicities … and the same/similar results. The only way people can believe we’d see something significantly different is if they admit they are choosing to close their eyes, cross their fingers and play the maybe game exhaustively.

Offense hasn’t really changed that much in my opinion. Yes more people are touching the ball per possession with DJ out but the end result is pretty similar…a late clock ISO or a very contested 3. KK still does not get his team any easy looks!

If he’s back he’s back nothing none of us can do!
You can expect the same brand of basketball you’ve seen this year and I can’t wait to see the crap recruits he brings in.

If I was DJ and anyone else worth a salt, I’d be in the portal because Kevin can’t coach!

This changes everything. Time to move them over to the Cox Pavilion since the AD appear to have made such a stupid move that he hid it from the general public.

In the Article they quote Dutcher talking like CKK is the reincarnation of Tark. What a joke. They also quote unnamed "boosters" saying that CKK had a tough year for injuries. I'd be stunned if he wasn't extended for another year - at least.

I could be wrong on my interpretation but if his contracts run June to June won't he get a buyout on his last year no matter what? We would never wait till June to hire a new coach.

Hope I'm right but this sounds like one last gasp for CKK. This all sounds like a PR move from CKK.

I still don’t think it changes anything.

If Harp was going to make a move, he will. If he didn’t intend to make a move, he won’t.

This article/KKs contract isn’t going to impact the final decision.
Usually agree, but I don’t see how this doesn’t impact this decision to move on from KK. $2million+ buyout is owed and that right there is what is going to prevent anything from happening. Sounds like boosters are ready to move on, but they’ve already blown through the bank with Mullen, now would owe $2mill in buyout and would still have to come up with something substantial to bring in a decent hire.

Lon and Kevin absolutely fleeced UNLV, get ready for year 5. What’s hilarious is my guy Dave Rice didn’t even get a full 5 years and this guy Kevin with a 1/4 of the resume and ZERO NCAA tourney appearances to boot is going to have a longer tenure than him. What a joke

He is already extended, that’s what the article states and an increased buyout

Anytime you get quotes from other coaches in the league talking up a colleague it's because they enjoy bearing the down and laughing about it privately... yeah we got the better of SDSU is their worst year in a decade, but the rest of the conference enjoys knowing we won't be competing for a top 3 spot..

I remember when Reggie Minton (AFA) won coach or co-coach of the year around 2000 … it was because he was a really nice guy, opposing coaches liked him a lot, but they liked getting 2 wins even better.

I didn’t watch a single game this season and it was amazing. If they retain him it’ll be no different for me next year. I’m already in the habit
