Im trying to understand the CFP. The 5 ranked conference champions are in. MWC is be considered in that top 5 according to what I've read. Only one team will come out of the 5th ranked conference, and that will be either UNLV or Boise, depending who wins the Championship game, right? However, if the league is ranked #4, does that mean MWC may get more than one team in if UNLV wins? It's really confusing.

Basically the four P4 conference champs. Highest rated G5 champion. 7 at large bids.

It's the At large bids where we are going to see the shenanigans.

It's possible the MWC could get two but I doubt it. If UNLV were to beat Boise State Rebs are obviously in. Boise would likely get boxed out as committee would probably jump through hopes to put an SEC or BIG10 school in.

The system is set up so that the SEC and Big 10 get 3 or 4 bids each, ND benefits by being independent, and then there's 1 spot for ACC, 1 for Big 12, and 1 for G5, with the potential that a lesser viewed conference by voters(Big 12 in this case) could in theory miss out by 2 G5 champs running the table into top 15 of rankings blocking them out. However unless 1 G5 champion runs the table and ends up in top 5, and a second G5 school ranked in top 10 loses to them in the title game and voters don't punish 2 top 10 schools like they ignore in the SEC.. so realistically there isn't a world in which 2 G5 schools get into the CFP via champ and at large..

No. To have any chance the team would need to be ranked in the top 10. If BSU loses they would drop out of the top 10, if UNLV loses, they wouldn't even get close to the top 10.

It isn't the top 12 teams. The Big 12 will not have a single team ranked in the top 12, so they will take one of those positions. If UNLV wins, that will be another team not ranked in the top 12. There is little chance to get in unless ranked in the top 10 or possibly 11.
Yes 10-12 depending on how it all plays out. If ASU win, they’re probably in the top 12.

Theoretically it's champ of power 4, which are seeds 1-4. Then 5-11 go based off CFP ranking. Then 12 is best G5. However technically it is written that the top 4 are highest rated champions, not just power 4 champs. So technically Boise would be a 4 seed should they win, not the Big12 champ, since they are higher ranked. Unfortunately for Boise, they won't have the chance.

When BSu losses this Friday wont matter. But my guess is if Arizona St beats Iowa St they will jump BSu either way. Deserve or not the powers to be dont want a G5 have a bye.

Iowa St wont they are to far back. Arizona St is only 2 spots behind BSu. I dont think Arizona St should jump but just guessing some high up in the poll results wont want a G5 to have a first round bye and will claim Arizona St had a tougher schedule and do what they need to so Arizona St ends up jumping BSu. Probably be very difficuly but i wouldnt put anything past the P4

Are you aware that BSU is currently ranked #4 in the CFP standings? Before their win yesterday?

Not ranked #4, but seeded #4 based on the criteria. The 4 highest ranked conference champions get the top 4 seeds. Since BSU is ranked high than the Big12 teams, currently the Big 10, SEC and ACC teams have the top 3 seeds, and then the MW top team is higher than the Big12 highest team. If ASU was ranked 13 and BSU #14, then they would show ASU as the #4 seed instead

did anyone take a gander at who is on the CFP committee? He absolutely hates Boise and UNLV.

Ok, seeded #4, not ranked #4. Same difference. BSU beats UNLV, they get one of the top 4 spots and a bye. UNLV wins? Almost assured a top 5 league champ spot. Where in the seeding that puts them I have no idea.

Not to open wounds but are you hearing you may lose your HC?

We win and we’re the 12th seed, MAYBE the 11th. Won’t be higher than that.

And who the hell would hire a guy who can't even beat bottom feeding MW teams? Dickert isn't going anywhere IMHO. Now our OC, he is welcome to bail if he doesn't get fired first. DC isn't far behind. Your coach will get poached before ours.

Your QB is definitely gone... he's gonna get a nice pay day to go to the Big 10 or ACC..

Relax Tiger...Just saw some stuff about him and Purdue floating around.

Coug, WSU and OSU are going to learn real real quick how it is to run an athletic department from a MWC perspective. Especially financially.

If we get into the CFP I don’t care if we draw the Steelers or Lions. Just getting in is absolutely amazing!

We are ready for the lions, but Fried Duck also sounds good!

It's going to be even worse than that... 120 million in debt is a huge hole to dig out of without a 20-30 million a year paycheck

Mateer is probably gone, but he is already getting some good NIL (with more to come) and hopefully a rotating band of coeds keeping him happy. WSU has a lot of smoking hot women, BTW. I have my hopes.

Dickert isn't going anywhere after the last 3 weeks.

And thank you Moms, some of us Cougs are quite aware of the upcoming financial constraints. Which is why we didn't want to be drug down further by bottom feeders like NM and Wyoming. Oh, wait - oops. :(

It's funny. Your Oregon State brethren don't seem to understand how difficult things are about to get for them. By difficult I mean learning to operate on smaller budgets and a TV deal likely half of what they were getting.

UNLV is slowly figuring out the NIL system. For the first time they used the Wynn Field Club for ticket sales that directly goes to NIL money for the players. While the tickets for standing only were around $65 each, I believe the reserved seats at the available seating/couches were in the range of $1,000 per person. This alone has the potential to add $50-$100K or more for every game that it is open for without even including money from food and drink sales. It appears they had around 300-400 people in the Wynn Field Club for the unr game. This has the potential to bring in over $500K just for the six games every season.
