Watching on BYU tv because, apparently, thats the only network the game is being shown on. Having to watch the game on BYU tv is absolutely BRUTAL. Commercials are the most wholesome I've ever seen. I feel like I'm in a Leave It To Beaver episode...but with more Jesus.

I didn't expect us to win or really even keep it close today, but I must admit, I didn't expect this. This is the ugliest thing I have seen in a long time.

By 18 assists at this time vs unlv 4 assists. That is pretty much impossible with any decent ball movement

At least with football there's always the cannon game to look forward to. I'm not sure there is anything to get excited about the rest of the basketball season.

I watched a couple games the start of the season, and then was out of the country for a while so didn't catch the last 2-3 weeks of basketball. No idea WTF happened in that time, but it didn't even look like the same team I saw the first couple of games. Perhaps I was just sleeping that first week or two during games! I was so pissed off with this showing after the game on Saturday.

Offense just standing around. First couple games the big guys seemed very active. Setting screens. Rolling out of them. On the boards. This game. Hardly any of that. 4 guys, standing around the 3 pt line, with hero ball being dribbled.

Defense looked equally as lost. Seriously. You have BYU midget standing in the corner all by himself. Lets see...... what is that guys main roll? Oh, yea. Shoot the 3 from that corner spot. Hey, lets leave him WIDE open for I lost count how many times. Those white dudes had their way with UNLV and were able to do whatever they wanted.

I just don't understand how after a month this team looked soooooo bad. It was beyond embarrassing. Me and the few dozen other Rebel fans slunk out of the arena in shame.

The shining light of this game. I didn't pay T&M prices for the tickets.

If I don't post much again this season, the reason should be obvious.
I can't expose myself this type of play.

Is UNLV a coaches grave yard???

I mean, the conference tournament still exists. I'm not exaggerating when I say I actually think UNLV could rattle off four straight in February.

Likely? Don't know... possibly? Surely.

Seems like it happens to every UNLV squad since Kruger. We look great early, working the ball, playing sound defense, lots of energy but then inevitably the bad habits creep back in. I guess it's easier to revert back to playground days than remember fundamentally sound practices that takes lots of discipline to maintain. I hope it's more the result of an exhausting double OT game played previously rather than the team starting to give up on themselves.

Speaking of Kruger to think his ERA was/is the Golden years of this Millennium for UNLV !!! Smh

Unlike Marvin, Coach Otz seemed really pissed about the teams effort during the post game interview. Never liked how Menzies seemed to take losses so easy. Hopefully some things get addressed in practice.

Marvin's a teacher, Otz is a competitor...
A teacher? He taught kids how to play the victim, make excuses and try to survive by constant use diversionary tactics.

Not the kind of teacher I’d prefer teaching my kids but sadly, it’s becoming the norm. It’s ok, parents just have to undo the damaging brainwashing at home.

Otz is a serious competitor though. It’s going to be tough with this group, may be tough moving forward too unless recruiting ramps up drastically.

I think the outcome to the BYU game was a very predictable one. The defense we run can shut off the mid-range shot and the shots of the baskets but leaves the 3-point shot wide open. BYU has several players that can hit the three and they're shooters were on they are hitting the threes and they kill us. Even if we had long in there I don't think we would have fared much better. Yes I know he's quite a bit better than Coleman offensively but I think Coleman is every that as good if not better defensively than long is.

If it makes you all feel any better BYU is handing UNR it's ass. Makes me think we have a chance against those pubes up north even without any depth.

It is quiet because this looks like it will be a long season. When you start the season with a rotation of 7 or generously 8 players and two of those get injured, it hard to imagine a winning season.

On the other hand, if OTZ can coax wins from this group, that is a great sign for the future. On the other other hand, not sure which hand this is, with my rose colored glasses off, it is tough to see many wins this season. Go Rebels.

Seeing byu destroy unr helps. I think he will find a way to put together a winning record b the end of the season, but it will not be easy with the very small rotation and the loss of players leaving UNLV with only about 6-87 players that can contribute to a level that will allow UNLV to be competitive.

But they lost to SDSU and Boise And struggled with SUU. Then again, Childs is a nice player and was missing early.

UNR isn’t good this year.

We will get a good gauge when UNLV plays against Pacific who already played and lost a close game to BSU. It should be noted BSU lost to UC Irvine who lost to California Baptist. In other words one bad loss doesn't make a season. Now we will need to wait and see if the coaching staff can make the adjustments to win short of players.

You are correct that unr isn't very good, but that can also be said about the majority of the MWC.

Yeah, I think it’ll turn out to be two decent teams fighting for one spot unless they are able to run roughshod over everyone else and split head to heads. Doesn’t happen often.

I don't know if you can compare the SDSU vs BYU for two reasons. First child's is back and second BYU is playing way better now then they did the first couple games. I think they would also destroy SDSU and BSU this they are playing right now.
