Booyah!

I am really happy SDSU came back and beat unr. With 3 teams losing in front of SDSU, they will end up being top 5 when the come to the T&M next week if they stay undefeated. UNLV needs a win at unr followed up by a huge game verse sdsu.

Me too. I want UNLV to be the gum on SDSU's brand new $200 Nikes. The dog butt stain on their ivory shag carpet. The 'oops' baby in their previously perfect singles life. I'm thankful for UNR losing so they could give us this opportunity to be the first to mar SDSU's perfect record so they can look back at UNLV with hateful, vengeful eyes dreaming in vain of what could have been...[devil]

We will probably be 10+ point underdog to SDSU. That said you have to be impressed with OTZ coaching. Motiviating , adjustments, execution, accountability ,and developing! We r out hustling and out willing teams. We will hardly out talent teams ,but we can outplay them! This team is starting to believe in OTZ and it is showing. We will lose a handfull of more games ,but as long as this team is playing hard it will be fun rest of the season.

It’s a team that’s playing as a team. That’s what coaches preach all the time but rarely achieve. This is what we are witnessing. It’s time for those fans who are in the shadows to come back out now and support this team. I can only imagine what a huge crowd will do to help this team. I hope they show up Sunday

Seems like the players are finally getting in sync with Coach Otz and his style of play. That could be a dangerous thing for the MW because I truly believe this team has to be the 2nd or 3rd most talented team in the conference.

Rebels are 7-1 in the last 8 and all 7 wins have been by 9+ points. The bad news is, 5 of those 7 wins were against the bottom 5 teams in the MW, and our next 3 games are against top 5 teams. This next 4 game stretch will really show us where we're at.

2nd or 3rd most TALENTED? That what it looks like when you have a good and I might go as far as excellent coach! We r not that talented. Yes we have a couple of good players to say we r that talented is a stretch. Its more of the coachability and heart of the players.IMO.

Yes, 2nd or 3rd. Last year this same team finish 5th in the MW with MARVIN MENZIES as the head coach. That doesn't happen without talent. And its not like I said 2nd or 3rd most talented team in the country, I said the MW and I think we can all agree that the MW ain't that great.

What’s funny is we ran into a team with less depth than is yesterday.

We have ok starting talent, couple bench guys. Zero depth. Those seven that play, no, not great, but I wouldn’t say no talent.

Would our top 7 get time at other schools? No, not top schools. Some would get some minutes on T25 schools. Vs the MWC, our peers? All our guys that play would play, maybe a little more, maybe a little less, for every other team. They aren’t talent laden but it’s not void either.

Hamilton is playing very well, Hardy has decent talent, Coleman has played very well. Diong would backup on some pretty good teams and would start for any MWC club (a premium on bigs), Tillman proved he can be top bench guy in a higher conference...

But people are getting all rosy with what have you done for me lately. Did they have heart when they had zero effort against BYU? Just last week when they got a no effort win vs Wyoming? Do they find heart when they win, but it takes a day off when they have a bad game?

But it definitely appears that they’re getting it. You always hope teams buy in, it’s better at the start than at some point later in the season but it’s still better than not at all.

Like when we beat Utah and looked amazing in a near flawless game and had a decent stretch, I’ll refrain from sinking my teeth in it for now since we almost laid an egg vs the worst team in conference just a week ago and like last season, we have a great record vs the softest part of the conference schedule.

Though I do like our chances more this year than last or the year before, because the guy on the sidelines now isn’t a used car salesman, know nothing coach like the guy before him.

Forgive me ... I sat with you for a short stretch during an exhibition game a few years back and you and Jam were sold on Menzies as being an excellent coach.

I get it, you want to be relevant again. We all do.

The MWC is “different” this year. Last year UNR and Utah State were “good”, certainly very clearly better than the rest of the conference which was shitty.

Even though their record says differently, I don’t think SDSU is as well put together as UNR last season. UNR just flopped at the end, they had friction internally. Talented though and even though we all hate Muss, he gets the most out of his guys.

I think overall, the league is a little bit better. It kind of scrunched like an accordion a tiny bit. Top might not be quite as high, the middle seems to be more ample than ever and the crap teams are still the crap teams.

It feels like a really strange year. Utah State was supposed to run away with it, but they’re closer to Air Force and SJSU than the top. SDSU more than replaced that, you can say maybe we stepped into the second slot shoes. It shows that way on paper, obviously. But the next few games will give us a better idea of all that.

I did not say he was excellent. It was more wishful thinking and hoping he was the next coach to get us to the promise lands. I quickly found out the truth.

We had 3 players transfer to TOP 25 teams. We added a few players Tillman Long, and Antonio< Justion, Ntamwbe,Clyburn,Tchatchoua,Beck, and Robotham. The difference in talent is HUGE from last year. Luckily for us coaching is also.

Lol, you were enamored. We just got McCoy and Juice. You were sold. I shook my head as you beamed.
Trust me about 6-8 games later I soured. Saw talent and was thinking if the coach could coach we might have something.

SDSU is a paper lion that is overrated, but they are the best in the MWC. If they were playing in a major conference I expect they would already have a half dozen loses. The big news is that SDSU will come into the T&M as a top 5 ranked team which will give UNLV the chance to show that they are moving back towards relevance. This will also be a huge chance to sell Las Vegas on the team and get fans back on board with coach TJ and the team. The biggest worry is that the team comes out flat again in the first 5 minutes and isn't able to get back into the game.

I know you soured, not saying you didn’t. I’m just saying you were pleased early. Probably more about emotion than logic. We all want the Rebels to be significant very badly, so much so we might overlook, and/or bury obvious flaws. Menzies was multifaceted when it came to flaws.

It is to get hyped after a little success after so many disappointing seasons. I know it is still early, but it is fun to be playing unr and SDSU in meaningful conference games. I will be more than satisfied with a split in those games.

Although I have to admit that winning in Reno and staying undefeated in conference home games would be icing on the cake.
