Rebs started well and then put Moses Wood at center with Tillis also out there. Quick 10 -0 run by Boise to no ones surprise that knows anything about hoop. Del Cadia not great, but if Diong out, Del Cadia must be in to even have a chance at a rebound.

Now the run is 20-4. Cannot defend. Cannot rebound. Offense is ran almost totally outside the 3 point line. And the shooting is streaky. Why do I watch this?
Yeah. We got smoked pretty good. Final score wasn’t really indicative.
UNLV started strong, led something like 19-14 and was playing generally well. Then that big run, a 12 point lead into halftime. Boise kept it in that 12-18 range for the better part of the second half. Hamilton got hot, may have cut it to 9 in the last 5 minutes or so but it never felt like UNLV was going to win the game.

UNLV didn’t defend a bit. And to be honest, Boise wasn’t really impressive. Sound, hit some shots, but nothing that jumped out at you.
UNLV gets a pass in all sports this year, but the ax will be ready to drop on UNLV athletics if both football and basketball don't make a drastic improvement next year. As for me, I can use the money I spent on UNLV athletics to make improvements on my house, buy a hot tub so I can go back in time, take a trip, etc.....
Boise was soft and UNLV managed to hang in there for most of that first half by playing physical while capitalizing on offensive rebounds. As Joe said, the defense was atrocious and it's clear that a lack of athleticism/speed is the main culprit for so many teams to have such efficient offensive showings against us. We also need to get some players in the program that can get to the hoop outside of Hamilton and Blake.
If unlv had a three point contest with other teams, they would do great as Jenkins, Wood, and Grill would do great if they got time to set up for open 3's like you see other teams get.
But to shoot 3's under duress by passing it around the arc, run pick and roll with a guy with bad hands and bad footwork, and have guys drive to the hoop with no one else going to hoop on the other side for dump off easy hoops....actually their record could even be worse.
I hate to say it, but our squad would be better these last 2 years with Marv. Hopefully next years team will be better, but if Hamilton is not back the team will probably be worse. How could they let Cronin and Beard slip thru their fingers. They would have been good with either coach. I am from Dakota so I want to see a Summit league guy do well, but hard to see the sunshine now.

That's because when they do when its largely meaningless. We arent playing for anything and we are so far down the prestige ranks that we'd have to do some serious winning for a few years to get back into any kind of contention for at-large berths.
As it stands today, start our season at the conference tournament. That's all that matters for us anymore.
Part of having a following is keeping the fans interest over the course of the season. Even if you don’t make it, you don’t have to continually crash and burn out of the gate as we have 4 of the last 5 years. The auto for tourney is there no matter what … but our base isn’t going to put hopes on a fluke every single season.
The one year in the last 5 where we didn’t crash and burn was Marv’s second when he gave us the gift of the 328th strongest OOC and we thrashed eventual NIT bound Utah and went into OT vs a strong but very struggling Arizona who was coming off three or four straight losses after news of an NCAA investigation hit.
I know some of our more blind fans were giddy and impressed, thought we were chasing an NCAA seed … i Didn’t go that far, at all, but I was impressed with some of the play … but I kept telling myself, consider the competition, consider the competition … our worst OOC ever and to that point, our worst conference strength ever …
The coach was a fraud who relied on bullshit to feed the fans. He did the same at NMSU.
LMAO every time I see the current AD name come up for a prestige job at another school. So far she has done absolutely nothing to improve UNLV and is instead busy looking for her dream job while the athletic department sends my letters requesting donations to help with all the great things they do in the UNLV athletic department? If you want me to "Show you the Money", then you need to show me actual improvement and stop the political BS!
Achievement has nothing to do with advancement in many walks of life. Bureaucracy.
