Call me bias . Which i am ,but this kid makes some good throws. I think he could be a impact player in the MWC.

Article on Boda. Sounds like a winner.

Obviously a Petrino influence here. He offered him at Missouri State.

I'll defer to his judgement..

Interesting no P5 or G5 offers (Besides us, Interest from Michigan State) But still managed a 3star grade. Wondering if he lit it up at a camp?

He drops it in over the linebackers. Might have a long release ?

4k in passing and 49 TD's. Petrino has been busy recruiting. I like the new staff and they have been very active on Twitter.

I will trust the coaching staff. If coach Petrino believes that this kid can develop into a D1 QB then we landed a good recruit.

Before we wet ourselves, his numbers were at a 2s school in Florida. For comparison, Virgin Valley H.S. in Mesquite would be a Florida 2s school.
You can say Miami Central is also the same as VVHS. They are in the same classification 2. Metro (601- 1650) as opposed to Suburban (601-1450). 🤷‍♂️

The key thing with any staff is developing players! Recruit them, get them to buy in to the program and last but certainly not least get them bigger, stronger, faster and increase their IQ when it comes to scheme. Too often in the past at UNLV development just didn’t happen, some guys were good and just played but QB, OL, DE, CB guys never got better and many regressed!

Not true at all, the state of Florida recently changed their classification. They now metro and suburban, the school he played for Cocoa is traditionally a Florida power and one of the best teams nationally.

They even came here and played Gorman a few years back, although that team got crushed as they played one of Gorman’s natty teams, Cocoa is still a solid nationally known program.

It appears ( see three posts above ) that Boda personally posted that he led his team to the 2S championship.

He posted himself that he led his team to the 2s championship.

The website below shows 2s ( 2 Suburban ) is two steps below the top Classification of 4s. So he is in the lower half of the middle ( suburban) division.

He did have an offer from South Florida, but otherwise as far as I can tell you are correct!

Maybe I misinterpreted your post, but I took it as you saying to discount his numbers due to the level of competition (I.E comparing it to virgin valley) the new Florida classifications are based solely on the enrollment of the schools and at Cocoa he played against several D1 athletes and although he has a lot of areas to improve on his numbers are very impressive and shouldn’t be discounted like Dantley Walker situation.

While Petrino may have left for greener pastures, he did not leave you empty handed. He left you a slim, left handed qb, who makes Brumfield look like Schwartznegger. In other words, he is perfect-for a red headed wench. Good luck on your new offensive coordinator search.

Ah the first signs of cannon withdrawal have commenced. Evident by the low brow unimaginative attempts at hot takes.

Fine with him leaving. He will be an excellent developmental player and possible star. We need someone with more skills attuned to new OC. We have several players in the qb room who have proven skills. Now they get a chance to learn a more rapid read system and handoff to multiple backs.

The scouting reports do not tend to agree with what you are writing. He has a 247 rating of 82 and a composite rating of 0.8156. He has offers from Coastal Carolina, USF, Bethune-Cookman and Missouri State. I will not disagree that he has impressive stats, but it doesn't appear that any of the experts being rating services or coaches agree in regards to his value. Stats do not always mean that a player is good, many times it has just as much to do with who else is on the team. A good example is Tate Martell who was very impressive in high school, but did nothing in college. Costal isn't exactly a power house program. Not one major program even considered him.

Rivals has him as a 2* 5.4 rating
ESPN has him NR

In comparison to those ratings, the following are the ratings of the current UNLV QB's:

Harrison Bailey 0.9555 247 composite rating; 81 4* ESPN; 5* 6.1 rivals
Cameron Friel 0.8463 247 composite rating; 73 3* ESPN; 3* 5.6 rivals
Jayden Maiava 0.8663 247 composite rating; 79 3* ESPN; 3* 5.5 rivals
Doug Brumfield 0.8376 247 composite rating; 74 3* ESPN; 3* 5.5 rivals

Every one of these QB's has a significantly higher rating compared to Blake Boda, and every one of these players had offers from major programs which Boda didn't have

If you ask me, I tend to believe they pulled the offer when the asst. coach ended up leaving.

I agree with your assessment that stats don't mean everything, but offers don't mean everything either. A lot of talent is overlooked. Perfect example is Coastal's current QB. Grayson McCall is way better than any qb on our roster.

Boda didn't have his offer pulled but he had no reason to come here since Petrino was his lead recruiter. Regardless, we will find people that want to be here!
