big time offer

Franklin has offeres from UCLA, Michigan, USC, Utah, ASU, and a dozen other schools. He plays WR on offense and OLB on defense.

I'll tell you what, every time I hear Sanchez talk it makes me a believer. The man knows how to relate with people and that's how he built Gorman into a national power. Call me crazy but the earlier in the process Sanchez gets in the door and establishes a relationship with some of these prospects the more I like our chances of landing higher-caliber players. Recruits will listen to him because he's the type of coach that attracts talent around him. He knows how to motivate and produce winners. It's only a matter of time before the first 4-star commits, imo.

+1, you can't get a 4 star recruit if you never offer one.

Does anyone know if Sanford or Hauck ever made offers to any 4 star recruits?

Guessing this is a little said in gest, but off the top of my head, Anu Solomon was a 4* with an offer. Surely there were others.

Gotta aim high to have a chance a hitting high!

I know Sanford offered and got a commit from WR Aaron Streiten who I believe was a 4 star Juco. (Also never amounted to much)

Was Rocky Hines a 4 star coming out of high school? He was a transfer so not sure if that would count anyway.

Sanford had a couple of former 4-star players who arrived as transfers from other schools but he never signed one directly out of high school.

Based on scout:

2003

5* Alvin Marshall Compton CC -would have been a great player but injury and heart problem stopped career short.

4* John Andrews Compton CC

Both of these players came to UNLV due to Robinson. If we had kept it up, we would have seen more of this caliber of player.

2006

4* Aaron Straiten San Francisco CC

2007

4* Larry Dennis - Compton CC

2011

4* Princeton Jackson top 20 out of Juco

I think both Rocky Hines and Eric Wright, both transfers from USC, were highly rated. Each only played one season at UNLV.

Javaris James I believe was offered and tripped here with a couple teammates, I thought who ended up coming here? But James was along for the free trip to Las Vegas.

Wasn't James from Florida? Sanford recruited three of his teammates hoping to also land him. UNLV signed Rodelin Anthony, Renan Saint Preux, and I can't remember the third teammate. Am I thinking of the right kid?

4 kids played here from the same Immokalee HS team as Javaris James

In addition to the 2 you mention Philip Julien and Wiselet Rouzard.

I'm not sure how much serious look he got from NFL scouts. They might have been initially intrigued by his size. He was big and looked good wearing the uniform at 6'6", but he never really broke out to become the player we all hoped he would.

I think he got a camp invite that was it. You are right though, he really did look the part. Had good speed and at 6'6 there was a thought he could transition into a TE/HB type guy at the next level. But there was a reason he was called Droplin Anthony.
