Sooo apparently Danny T confirmed Beard's pick-up truck Tark recruiting story was pure fiction. No doubt the "I met a waitress at a Mexican Restaurant in Vegas who told me she moved to town to fulfill her dreams" was bs too. Now he's feeding "Mama I'm coming home" garbage to Texas Tech. Glad he's gone. What a lying scumbag.

Yeah me too... he comes across as an arrogant, self-centered hillbilly, and his resume ain't even that great.

Just goes to show without a doubt that a little luck or good fortune goes a long way in this profession.

He just barely escaped the first round by the skin of his teeth and was promptly disposed of in 2nd round. He parlayed that one super-slim win into a P5 job.

Had Marvelously Mediocre Marv beaten MSU and SDSU in his 2 close 1st-round losses? He'd undoubtedly have a P5 job now too.

That said, we gotta get over Beard. He's in the dusty hick village he belongs, that's the end of it.

Beard is the coaching version of a 1-and-done. Menzies is the coaching version of a 5 star recruit that can't develop...

Lol! What a hillbilly scumbag! They were just talking about it on Mitch and Pritch. Beard should never be allowed to mention Tark in a story, made up or not!

Some say it's scummy. To me, it's really freaking creepy. REALLY creepy.

You're right it was creepy. Making up a story about our dead coach to gain favor is creepy. Dragging his daughters on stage at his TT presser to win the crowd over, knowing he's a compulsive liar and a narcissist, is creepy.

Can you imagine if he stayed and bumped into Danny Tarkanian? "You and I know that story isn't true"! "Stop making up *hit!"

Why would he lie about that when one of the parties involved is still alive? Sounds like a case of diarrhea of the mouth and retardation of the brain.

He had a couple quick stories. They were odd. Not a huge deal but they felt off.

Oh, I watched him tell it. I thought it was great but remember doubting if it was true. I brushed the feeling off because, well, only a phony weirdo would tell a made up story like that.. Holy balls I'm counting my basketball blessings now. Sweet Sweet Marvin Menzies

i was told he texted a player and tried to buy his dog. i would say if true, that helped push any that were on the edge....off.

his broken hand antics will wear thin quick. he will fade because people will know he's a liar and full of $hi7.

hate that Bird guy. Jessup is worthless, but i'll always appreciate him for that.

Making up some stories has nothing to do with on court results.

Bird was off to a great start at running us into the ground, and now we find out the weirdo unabashedly makes up stories.....We dodged a bullet.

I predict, in light of this new info, UNLV's Sweet Marvin Menzies outperforms Bird's Red Raiders.

...And What is this thing about buying a players dog? What does that even mean?? Ya, we dodged a bullet.

Punching the whiteboard was just an act he picked up from Bobby Knight. The guy's a complete fugazi, including his claims that Lubbock is "home". Who knows where he's really from, he could be a con man from England, just putting on a accent lol.

As for trying to buy Morgan's dog, no doubt the dog would bite his phony a$$.

so you heard it too? and it was Morgan's dog? no wonder he wanted to leave.

the guy is a freak, but i have to say i feel a little sorry for him.......because i just looked up where Lubbock, Texas is. that can't be a real place. it looks like it might be Barstow, but 500 miles from anything, 500!!! hopefully they have an In-N-Out, so people can grab a bite to eat and leave a sh!t in their bathroom while they're on the way from Breaking Bad to Dallas and then back.

Would you let a stranger come to your house and babysit your kids? This administration would. That goes to show how much they care, or how naive they are... probably both. I'll lean towards both!

Lol! He tried to buy Morgan's dog? To quote Bobby Knight that is "strange".

I guess he figured the kid was leaving town so what's he doing with the dog. Does make it look like he more's concerned about keeping his dog than keeping him a Rebel.

The waitress, the dog and a pick up truck. F'n hillbilly

Cognitive dissonance theory is founded on the assumption that individuals seek consistency between their expectations and their reality. Because of this, people engage in a process called dissonance reduction to bring their cognitions and actions in line with one another. This creation of uniformity allows for a lessening of psychological tension and distress.

I'm fairly certain that congnitive dissonance is when you hold two competing views and use them at different junctures depending on how you try to frame your argument.

Disclaimer: Psych 101 was a loooong time ago for me, though lol.

Agreed.

Ah, but also, it's the need for reduction of dissonance that motivates us all, and makes us malign "the others" or their views. Or, in this case, the "others" are Beard.

I was bugged by Beards use of "eye contact" as a measure of sincerity and honesty. I just watched his presser again and MM's presser today. It appears he may be on to something. Marvin looks at people around the room, where Beard looks down and even when he turns to address TKM, he is not really making eye contact. He gave away his own 'tell".
