Just throwing this out there to any UNLV football fans. The Sept 22 game at Arkansas State will be a very tough contest... but believe it or not, it’s extremely affordable to attend, relatively speaking. Allegiant flies to Memphis non stop (about 70 miles from Jonesboro) every day of the week and you can nab the RT fare for around 120. And accommodations in Jonesboro are cheap, too. Of course, you’d need a rental car. But overall, a much cheaper road trip than you’d expect. Pass it on to those you think might be interested.

Sucks. If I miss ASU I will try and get to Vegas and you can grill us steak and lobster with some high dollar wine. We need to pull this one out. Some of the MW teams are stepping up (not std st.)

Hey Rebels...looking forward to hosting y'all in Jonesboro this weekend! Not sure how many y'all are planning to bring, but I wish for safe travels and hope you enjoy Jonesboro as much as we do. If you have any questions just ask! Should be a good competitive game!

What kind of fun away from the football game can be found in Jonesboro, @HowlforstAte? Any high recommendations for food and fun?

Well, we certainly don't have any casinos...unless you head south from Memphis to Tunica before heading to Jonesboro. As far as in Jonesboro:

Local Eats: J-Town's is the best food in town and right by the stadium but very busy on game days. Skinny J's is a great local place downtown. Also downtown, Creegan's Pub is good. N'Awlin's is good for cajun food. Never been but have heard great things about Eleanor's Pizza. Omar's Uptown and Brickhouse Grill are also good downtown picks.

Craighead County is a Dry County...but most sit down restaurants serve by the drink. If you want chain restaurants (I recommend the local places) you can find most of those along Red Wolf Blvd. If you want wings I highly recommend Wings to Go! For a sweet treat you can't go wrong with Andy's Frozen Custard!

For entertainment...this is where Jonesboro is lacking. But if you like outdoorsy, nature stuff I would recommend a visit to the Crowley's Ridge Nature Center. Open Saturday 8:30 - 4:30. Exhibits and displays featuring the terrain and wildlife of Crowley's Ridge (formed by massive earthquakes in 1800's). There is a short, but very interesting film showing throughout the day and a nice little walking trail to showcase the natural setting. There are reptiles and gators usually on display. Kids and adults both enjoy it. And it is FREE!

If you do fly into Memphis (70 miles from Jboro) and have never been there, check out Beale Street. Also, remember it was the home of Elvis...Graceland! Lot's of stuff to do in Memphis but don't hang around in the wrong areas after dark.

We are usually very nice to visiting fans. There is a pretty good tailgating atmosphere before the game, but it is a little spread out due to some construction ongoing. Bring your sunglasses for the first half as you will be facing the sun until it ducks behind our new press box. Bring a kayak and you can ride the rapids in our new water features...haha!

If you have any other questions just ask. Hope y'all enjoy our little town!

Strippers and hookers. And what is this thing, I’ve never heard of it before ... “last call”?

Btw, just joking about strippers and hookers, Vegas humor.

Does the Irish Bar have live music on weekends?

Weeelllllllll.....maybe sometimes. But not this weekend. Pulled the following description of their Friday night event off their FB page. Apparently it's Throwback Night! Woohoo....:grimace:[eyeroll]

"Break out the dookie chains and polish up your sneaks! We’re gonna be kicking out the old school jams all night at the pub! Nothing but 90’s and 00’s hip hop with a side of R&B!"

I will also add that Saturday night there is live music from 9pm-1am so, after the game. Local band called The Funk Donors, a mix of hiphop/funk music. Here's the description on their show:

Come join us for one last epic party as we part ways as The Funk Donors, and continue on our individual musical journeys in the great future. Help us make this the biggest and best show of the year for our favorite pub and the experience of a lifetime for the fans and the band. We have loved entertaining our hometown and beyond for the last 7 years and would like to thank the fans, venues, and former members for molding The Funk Donors into what we are. What a ride!

For any of you planning on being in Jonesboro tomorrow, better bring your rain gear! Looks to be a wet one!

Thanks to all of you who made the trip out to Jonesboro to sit in the rain! Some of your fans sat next to us and when we said "Let's go Red Wolves!" they thought we said "Let's go Rebels!" so we shared a laugh at that. We all knew how well that you guys could run the ball, but I was surprised at how good your defense was. Honestly your defense harassed our QB as much as Bama did. We look forward to seeing you guys play in a bowl this year!
