Had a 10 point lead a couple of minutes ago which is now down to 2 with 3:34 left in the game. UNLV still can't pull away from a bottom feeder team. Absolutely no adjustments at the half and UNLV is doing all they can to give this game away!

You’re nit picking. Winning on the road is hard. We were very good. We kept Dembo in check. We didn’t let the crowd dissuade us.

Always looking for bad when there is none.

Yeah Menzies is dead man walking. The rest of the schedule is tougher. Could go 0-4 to close. One more win would be a moral win for the season getting to a winning MW record. This should have been a banner year for unlv with the mw so down, instead every game is a struggle.

I really feel bad for all the people that just can’t enjoy anything. Kids played hard and won a game tonight. First time the Rebs have won 9 conference games since 2014 and we might win a couple more before we are done. It has also been quite a few years since we have won in Laramie and that includes at least one team loaded with one & dones.

This was the trip that sealed Rice’s fate 4 years ago.

Last time I checked, we beat the cowboys and the point spread. If you are a unlv fan, that makes it a good night. God knows what will happen against SDSU Saturday, but I am looking forward to the game. Assuming unr beats the Aztecs tomorrow, both teams will have five conference losses.

Go Rebels.

At Wyoming is always rough. It’s a feel good win. Unfortunately I missed the game cause my kid is sick and only just old enough to understand that barfing sucks, causing him to cry hard and barf more.

Before calling me out for nit picking, and how it is hard on the road, explain these:

-14, -16, +13 beat SJSU, -13, +8 CSU, -33. Except for the 2 bottom feeder teams Wyoming beat, they have lost by 13 or more to every other team they have played in conference at home, that isn't exactly a hard team to beat on the road. The two wins were against the other 2 teams listed in the MWC bottom 3. In fact the game was closer than the score with UNLV only up by 2 with 3 minutes left and by 6 with under 1 minute left in the game.

The league is rated 16th. It’s worse than it’s ever been. There are 6 free wins in conference for any team that has two guys that can take two dribbles without traveling. Of course we won more games. But of course even with those wins, our rating continues to drop, because the teams we are beating are god awful.

This is How bad our wins are:

You can look at face value or analyze and keep things in context. One takes thought, the other doesn’t.

We didn’t lose, so that’s good. We played like crap against a crap team. Again. That’s not good. We play nobodies, we beat many nobodies but we still lose to nobodies. And we don’t beat somebodies. Hardly where we should be.

You don’t control conference, you gotta play them. UNLV lucked out with only one game vs #2 and #3. Boise is coming, they’re terrible. SDSU is decent at home, bad on the road. Should win 3 of last 4.

Marv dodges opponents, he always has. His OOC has always been weak, even at NMSU. He doesn’t challenge his teams, he looks for that magical “20” as some contrived evidence of success. It may fool Las Cruces, it doesn’t fool Vegas, that’s why there are 2K in the stands.

Dude, I’m being completely facetious. Anybody that is happy or satisfied with what they are seeing in front of their very eyes is either a dumb fool, smoking some high grade stuff, or they’re in denial. The team fails every metric and even worse, every eye test. Someone can twist and chop stats all the want, put it on maximum spin; it doesn’t pass any eye test.

Rice’s fate was sealed the year prior towards the end of the season when coaching prospects were showing up at games. Don’t kid yourself that it was a three game losing streak. When boosters start bringing people in, you are marked for death. It’s just a matter of time.

Coincidentally…

Do you mean weren't showing up at games or do you mean other coaches prospects.?

So what you’re saying is Menzies did a better job and LASTED longer?

From my observations, we need a Rick Pitino to get them in shape but it’s not gonna happen. We’re settling for something less.

"We didn't let the crowd dissuade us" :joy::joy::joy:

The team is really bad. It has benefited from a really bad league to have a respectable conference record, but overall the team is 15-11 against a weak schedule. Who are the elite teams on the schedule? Nevada and Cincinnati. Other than that every game should have been winnable for a decent team. Not saying you win the rest of those games, but 15-11 certainly isn't good enough.
Menzies can claim he is improving each year in league, but that doesn't hold much water when this year the team is clearly worse than last year, the conference just also is.

UNLV should replace the fight song with Dead Or Alive’s “You Spin Me Right Round”. “You spin me right round, baby, right round, like a record baby, right round, round, round.”

Admit it. You sung it.

Joe sometimes it is hard to know if people are being serious or not. There are still those here and on twitter that defend the coach, but I really have a hard time defending anything when I look at how the team has played against one of the weakest schedules I can ever remember UNLV playing.

If you are a balanced, logical person that isn’t blinded by fanaticism, it’s clear as day. If you took a neutral party that had no dog in the fight and they read the complete story of the last three seasons, they’d judge harshly. Only spin and defense mechanisms (nobody likes admitting bad things about themselves or things they love, the situation doesn’t matter) can paint the fake picture.

Fennis was a stud.
He was good. Can’t recall how he did against us in the NCAAT. Obviously we won, but don’t remember how he did in that game. Him or Leckner. But I do remember an interview after the game, it was either Jarvis and/or Eldridge, calling the Wyoming bigs (Leckner, not Fennis) soft.

Gilliam was a beast. He would've averaged 30ppg if the team had passed it more to him. I remember yelling at the tv 'PASS IT TO ARMON!!!!' and then Banks would let fly with a 25-footer...

At least we'll have the memories, until dementia sets in anyway.

Mark got it to him a lot. Freddie had one assist in his career.
