Been off the boards for some time for many reasons, mostly less time to focus on hobbies. Original name was rebel77fl. My family and I are traveling from Houston for this game. It will be my first game since the late 90's and the first for my wife and kids. I have a couple of questions.

- We are staying out in Boulder City, how long will the drive in take in the afternoon? Current though is to take 515 to Tropicana and in (how will this work with parking)
- What are some good restaurants to eat by the T&M on trop prior to the T&M coming from the east, plan is to eat quickly prior to going into the stadium?
- Parking, what lots are open to the public these days? Can you pay to park in the Black or White lots? Is the garage an option, looking for close more than price.
- Tip is 7:05, when do introductions start? Thinking about getting there about 6:45.
- Any other tips?

In and out of lots is simple, parking is free. Crowds are light so parking, getting to and from, is breezier than ever. Garage is an option but not necessary at all.

If you get there by 645, you’ll be just fine. From BC, I’d probably leave at 610 give or take, just to be sure.

Others will have better restaurant recommendations than myself.

Kyle, didn’t you go to games in the 2000’s? I could have sworn you attended a practice or two with me under Spoon? Or maybe that was Maddog.

I went to some practices over the summer one year and then one or two in the fall but was never in Vegas during the season. I watched Lou Kelly drain threes for about an hour and think he missed like two. His shot was so sweet looking. Last game I attended was the 98 WAC tournament.

Thanks for the tips.

Lou was one of the best shooters we’ve had. One of the best at understanding offense too. Was usually a step ahead of his teammates on offense. Which leads to problems.

In n out

Welcome back.

I dunno how traffic is these days coming from the east side of town since you’ve been gone.

Should take about 30-35 min from BC no matter which route you take, 6:45pm is a good time as you can grab a drink and see the new intro which is pretty neat. Taco y Taco on Trop and Aloha Kitchen on Maryland are other options too. If Houston doesn't have an inn n out, i would personally go there. Enjoy the game!

This being Valentine's day, you may want to find a place that isn't too fancy or anything. One of the busiest restaurant days of the year.

I like the Gordon Beirsch on Paradise though.

Good call on Aloha Kitchen. One thing Houston does not have is Hawaiian BBQ. We don't have In n Out, yet. It is supposed to be coming soon. It's in Dallas and Austin.

We have In n Out everywhere. They are building a new one about a half mile away. I think their food is OK, but the biggest plus is the food is cheap.

Air Force Coach, Dave Pilipovich, tongue firmly implanted in cheek, suggested that the Falcons, were going to become the “Runnin Falcons”, after posting a 100–92-win vs New Mexico, marking their first game to hit the century mark in school history.

If the Falcons plan on running with the Rebels, I believe a rout is in the offing. In reality, they’ll probably slow it down. That’s always been the plan of attack that has caused the most trouble.

Note at the end of the enclosed link, the likelihood that Anthony Smith, although no final determination has been made, is most likely done as a Rebel. Too bad. I liked his energy coming off the bench.

Hope your kids are still awake.

It’s a terrible game to watch.

Can they move the male Rebel dancers from the front to the back or preferably at the corner of the court?

That was such a horrible game to watch. They should give both teams loses for games like this lol.

Weird game. Another one vs the Academy, where our big tandem in the paint, was largely ineffective. McCoy had 10-points, but went a weak, 2-11 from the field. He did have 13 boards, including 5 at the offensive end. Likewise, Juice went an extremely uncharacteristic 2-8 but chipped in 12 rebounds. So they had an effect, but not at the offensive end. The only player that was effective down low was Nunu. Beck contributed 16 points on 7-9 shooting. He even sank his only 3-point attempt.

It was the guards that carried this game. Johnson tossed in 16, while JoJo Mooring had 24, including 5-9 from beyond the arc. The surprise, at least for me, was the play of Kris Clyburn. He scored 10 points, added 4 boards, a block, and was 2-3 from 3-point land and 2-2 from the charity stripe. A very efficient line off the bench. Perhaps he wants his starting job back.

Between the three guards, Johnson, Mooring and Clyburn they were responsible for the following cumulative line: 50-pts, 14-24 fg’s, 8-15 3-pts, 14-18 ft’s, 13 rb’s, 11 ast, 1 blk, 1 stl, & 5 to’s. quite an impressive line.

Amauri Hardy, and Cheikh Diong played 16 & 8 mins, but had little effect, scoring a total of 1 point, 1 ast, and 2 rbs, 1 stl, & 3 to’s..

It’s nice to know that our backcourt is up to the task, on those nights when the players in the paint are not having a good night.

As usual, watching a game against Air Force is an exercise in tedium. Their game-plan, notwithstanding their 100-pt effort vs New Mexico, is to lull the opponent to sleep. And to some extent, it works for them. They always seem to play the Rebels close. But in the end, it goes in the books as an 8-pt victory. The team is 8-5 in MW play, tied for 3rd place with Fresno St. they’ve won 6 of their last 7 games. The only blemish being the overtime loss at Boise St.

We’re playing our best ball at the key point of the season. The next few games will test our resolve. A visit to San Diego St., followed by Fresno St. coming to The Mack. After a trip to The Pit in New Mexico, the Woof-Pack of UNR come for a visit, looking to avenge their beating up north, in the boonies. We’re not going to allow that to happen. And when we stomp them, no one will rush the court. We will take the win, because we expect to beat those yokels.

But back to business…after that game, we conclude the regular season with a trip to Logan, Utah. USU has been a thorn in several teams side this season. But, if we play up to our capabilities, I see no reason why we can’t win out, or perhaps one more loss.

That should ensure us a third-place finish, and a first-day bye in the MW Tournament. That’s a very important achievement. Winning three straight games is tough. Winning four straight is exponentially tougher.

Air Force was that bad. Don’t care what anybody says..you can’t play like crap in this city and expect to bring in fans.

I f’n died of laughter when I saw McCoy get swatted...

And I don’t care about this weave at the top and Jovan sinks a 3. That’s hero ball not well coaching.

What team do you root for? Just curious...

I call a spade a spade. Don’t give me this crap that AIr Force forces you to play at their tempo. We were in the lead pretty much the entire game.

They haven’t done back door ball in years.

This isn’t Jarmica Reese led AFA.

This was a pretty bad AFA game.

Take the Rebel tinted glasses off for once.

UNLV was never in danger of losing the game, and that is all that counts. With the exception of BSU (OT loss), UNLV has won against all the top teams in the conference recently, UNLV is 5-1 over the last 6 games, and they are 19-7 which to me means they are playing decent ball. Looking at the last 5 games of the season, UNLV has a very good chance of finishing 4-1 or 5-0 which would give them a record of 23-8 or 24-7 which would leave them with their best record since at least 2011 (lost 9 games total) and maybe 2007 (lost 8 games total). Only 3 times in the last 25 years has UNLV lost 8 or less games in a season!

UNLV played two teams from the Pac-12. Losing to Arizona by 3, who are by far the best team in that conference, and destroying Utah who are a middle of the pack team. UNLV beat unr by 8 at reno (a team can make any excuses they want about their top player being out, but a home game is typically worth 3-5 points for the home teams which means this was an 11-13 point spread on a neutral court. If a team is a legit top 25 team, they should't drop off over 20 points by losing 1 player).

UNLV did play a weak early schedule, but the simple fact is the team is currently playing good ball and has potential to have one of the best records since the days of Tarkanian. Only 1 team since Tark has lost less then 8 games in a season. How many times has a UNLV team had the chance to finish the season with less then double digit loses.

Yeah, I expected you to respond like this. I don't like to engage in on-line sniping. So I should have kept my opinion to myself. And had you refined your critique to just the caliber of the opponent, Or even the play of the Rebels, I doubt that I'd have been moved to respond. But....

Which spade led you "f*in die with laughter" when our young star got swatted? I don't need Rebel-tinted glasses to see that you seem to root for failure by this team.

Feel free to respond however you like. I'm bowing out of this topic. Have a good day.

I can’t believe UNLV has a bunch of dudes dancing around now at the damn basketball games. No wonder no one goes to these games anymore. We want the Rebel Girls dancing around!! Not a bunch of dudes! Damn it all!!

This is by no means a good AFA team.

They however has us scouted very well.

You don't shut down both of our bigs twice in 2 games by accident. They constantly switch defenses on us and it gives us fits.

They don't backdoor as much, but they sure do against us.

They are a tough match up for us defensively our bigs can't defend the 3, and we don't switch well. Plus we aren't exactly known for being all that disciplined on defense. We love to look at the ball and lose our man off the ball.
