Under Menzies the other team always made adjustments as the game went along and took out UNLV. This team has made the adjustments from being down 19-10 to leading 43-29 early in the second half.

Munchies adjusted. He allowed his friend Pilipovich score 106 points against UNLV, lol. I’d call that a low point, but it gets jostled together with a dozen or two others.

It is sad that we have had so many years of getting a lead and then letting the other team back into the game, that I keep waiting for the shoe to drop and for AF to catch up. I will be happy when the day comes where we expect to win pulling away when playing MWC teams.

Keep it up Rebs! I love winning like this. Lots of hustle, working the ball around, playing tough team D(10 steals!) and solid contributions up and down the roster.

Remember a few weeks ago when the A.D. made a terrible mistake in hiring Coach Otz. ? People want instantaneous results. They want to judge too quickly. Maybe Otz will prove the naysayers wrong. But it's still too early to tell. One thing we do know is that he is no Marvin Menzies.!!!

He also is not Dave Rice and that is a good thing!

This coach is a lot more intense and clearly has a vision on what this team will be.. come hell or high water they will play his way. And it is starting to look like the players are buying in and taking on his personality on the court.

I was not a fan of this hire at all and it looked like this place was going to be a dumpster fire due to his recruiting but his tough style is real and refreshing and his recruiting may fit his vision of coach-able, tough players who defend, rebound and do the "little" things that don't always show up in the stat lines but those little things matter in real games!

UNLV just might be on the verge of becoming that "tough and scrappy" Midwest team, like Wichita St, Butler or Dayton!

This guy may be on to something..

It wasn’t that long ago when I thought an 0-3 start in conference play would be more likely than 3-0. 3-0 would have surprised me a lot.

Let’s keep it going and go 4-0!

We’ve had so many years of struggling with Mountain West teams that I wasn’t confident the team would beat Air Force (because we almost never start 3-0, except for last year when we were 6-6 after a 5-1 start after playing the weaker teams in conference).

Will Tillman learn his lesson, or will he end up riding the bench for the rest of his career? He is a good player, who could make UNLV much better, but lack of discipline in the long run is what torpedoed the career of coach Rice and Menzies!

On espnu broadcast last night they said coach otz had someone in on a recruiting visit. And they said this would mean 9 new guys eligible next year. I realize 2 of the 9 are the transfers.

I can hardly believe tillman would have any nba buzz after unimpressive play this year. Hardy shaky shooting should mean non much nba buzz either.

Do we have room for 9 newcomers if our 2 nba possible guys stay?

Every player is playing for their scholarship! Some will stay, some will go and some will be strongly encouraged to leave.

Would otz really overrecuit and drop some high schoolers? I would think that would hurt him with recruits going forward if they do not think their initial scholarship would be honored.
