Four of our starters combined for 3 buckets in the last game. That is a stat that is really hard to swallow. Otz has been liking that starting lineup but it has been getting off to a slow start recently. Las game with Reno I wasn't sure we were ever gonna get it going but we did.
Otz has been doing a good job of getting these guys to buy in to his philosophy and they have been really good at learning lessons from their losses and I expect there will be progress moving forward from this one. Reno has the best and most experienced backcourt in the MWC and they took full advantage of that plus they couldn't miss a 3 ball. Not only did they understand the importance of the rivalry game but also how to play the rivalry game. Coleman was a little too pumped up from his triple double, Jonah couldn't throw it in the ocean, Diong looks a little too excited and the refs blew the whistle entirely too much through the first 30 minutes of the game.
It seems to me that Otz should be about ready to start Hamilton and bring Jonah in off the bench and possibly go to a smaller lineup at times since it was so effective in the previous game. But no matter I am sure the next time around with Reno will be different. It was really quite impressive that we were still in the game in spite of our horrible shooting performance which underscores the work these guys are doing on the boards.
