#20 in the College Football Playoff Rankings

Anyone else scared we beat Boise and Boise is still ranked higher than us when all is said and done. I could see that happening. I guess we won't know until we win on Friday
They could still be ranked higher, but it won’t matter. We will still be in the playoff as the conference champ and would be the 12th seed.

Rankings do not matter for us anymore, as it pertains to the playoffs.

According to the CFP ranking? I guess it depends upon the ACC and Big12 teams plays and ranking. UNLV will get into the the CFP but will Boise get an invite also?

I think Boise St is getting screwed by the committee. There is no reason they should be behind SMU or Indiana based on actual results. There only loss is on the road by 3 to Oregon better than any loss those teams have (SMU home by 3 to BYU and Indiana crushed at Ohio State). Boise State has the only win against another ranked CFP team. There is no reason based on the published criteria that they should be behind those teams.

Also I think Syracuse should be ahead of UNLV based on all results. I’m glad they are not as that would put UNLV too close to AAC teams for comfort.

Indiana in particular they have beaten NO ONE. Voters are infatuated because they run up the score on dog teams like Purdue. And got boat raced by the one good team they played.

Nothing would make me happier than to see Alabama be left out of the CFP. But to hear the Miami AD complain about is laughable. They have beaten absolutely no one. What is their best win? By 7 over an 8-4 Louisville team? The best teams on their schedule besides them are Syracuse and GA Tech, both losses. They have no business being ranked higher than the 20s. Replace the name Miami with James Madison and the same schedule and results and that is where they would be.

I totally agree with you about Alabama. I can't stand them. But you see the committee doing everything they can to make sure they get them in.

I'll say it again, besides UNLV, Boise hasn't beat anyone. Their claim to fame this year is a close loss to Oregon at the beginning of the season when the Ducks only beat Idaho by ten, 24-14 the previous week. If they were to play now, Oregon would beat BSU handily.

When they decided to expand the playoffs, I really thought they were going to have 16 teams with no byes. I can't truly think anyone can argue for any team outside 16. With 12, there is so much controversy with teams ranked 8+ on who beat who, SOS, etc. I could agree with 5 conference champions, which could add a long shot team ranked lower, then fill out the remaining 11 by end of regular season ranked. I'm sure EVENTUALLY they'll get it right like the lower divisions.

If they go to 16, then they should also go to 6 conference champions to keep a reasonable chance for the lower ranked conferences.

Boise did thrash WSU when they were ranked and playing well. Which is better than any Miami, PSU or SMU win.
