I keep hearing that Beard will be able to bring in recruits to have us at least somewhat competitive. Where will these recruits come from? .

If we only have 3 returning players he will need @ 9 recruits who can immediately play. Traditional transfers won't work because they will have to sit a year. Most of the JC players you would want are spoken for. He'll need non-committed freshman and graduate transfers.

I'm leery of the remaining freshman who are uncommitted. Even the most talented freshman take a while to get up to D1 speed and we most likely aren't going to get the most talented freshman. You need to get down to 2* and N/R players to find decent amounts of players who are not committed. Certainly he can't fill up on these players and have them for 4 years? He has to limit these freshman so he has room for better freshman next year.

So that puts us at 1 or 2 JC, 3 or 4 Graduate transfers and 3 or 4 low level freshman? That gives us 5 or 6 recruits next year ( someone will leave).

I think San Jose shows that no matter what you do as a coach you need at least a base level of talent to win. I just don't see where the talent will come from in the short term.

He could turn around Little Rock because his competition was mostly 2* and non rated players. Although the MW is in a down period our competition is MUCH better.

This who think this is a 2 year turnaround are kidding themselves. It took Kruger 3 years and he had twice the number of players stay during the turn around. He also is a shoe-in hall of fame coach. Think 4-5 years.
